Tank Update Photos

Since a few people have asked to see some updated pics, I thought I would post some here to show some of my progress. I'll post a few more in this thread later on. I'm burnt out trying to find the right lighting for each shot to accommodate the camera. It took me 88 pictures just to wind up with these, but it's the best I can do for some quickies. The middle 3 are top down shots.

Thanks for looking!

Peter...Wow! man...I am impressed!

I am so coming to you for frags after I get my tank up and running...after I am done procrastinating! Very nice!

How did you mount the floating torch? Magnetic rock?

I also think you should post all of your equipment...The stuff that makes this happen!

Dosing regimine?
Skimmer?
Sump?
Return?
Lighting?

This is truley the perfect example of a successful reef with LED lighting...I have seen many just bleach everything!

I have noticed you seem to have no issues with Paly's...I myself only can keep them alive so long then eventually they melt...go figure...Trade secret?

Lol. Thanks man. Yes, it is on a Rock-Mag. I was aching for some movement but didn't want to risk anything stinging my corals. So the Rock-Mag keeps is sufficiently at distance.

Note: it was you who started my sps addiction. Haha

Oh my, to know a major contender living close by is sweet! Your tank deserves major honors, I am sure they are soon to come... Great job, sweet corals, awesome scape, placement, and balance of colors, really man, the tank sucks you in, could only imagine in real life, probably jaw dropping :) Congrats!

Lighting is ReefBreeder 48" photon (I modified the spectrum)
16 - 4500k whites
12 - 14000k whites
12 - 420nm UV
12 - 480nm Blues
4 - 660nm Reds
44 - 450nm Blues
6 - 480nm moons

Schedule ramps up from just blues at 8am-10am at 10%. Whites and blues will ramp up hourly until 1pm where they reach 65/45 and then ramp back down to blues at 10% at 10pm and moonlights from 11pm-12pm before turning off.

Skimmer is a Bubble Magus NAC6 with upgraded pump

Sump is a Synergy

2 reactors, one running carbon, the other Rowa Phos

Custom 14.8 gallon acrylic auto top off that contains Kalk water (1 tbs per gal) intensified by 1/3 cup of white vinegar per 5 gallons.

Dosing pump doses 1375.22ml of kalkwater from reservoir over a 24 hour period and the Smart Ato finishes off the remainder. This is to mitigate PH spikes when adding Kalk water instead of topping off a large portion all at once.

Reefkeeper Monitors PH and disables ATO if PH gets too high.

Dosing pump also doses calcium and Alkalinity (ESV brand) 25.20ml per 24 hours.

These amounts allow me to maintain a rock solid 500ppm calcium and 8.6 kh. Never any fluctuations. I can test my water 2 weeks later and params are dead accurate.

Magnesium is kept at 500ppm, nitrates never above 2, phosphates 0. All performed on salifert. None of these Params fluctuate either. Temp is ~79.

Chaeto kept in sump and grown with an ikea puck light.

Return pump is a mag9.5 and return is split with loc line. Power heads in tank are a Jebao WP25 and a WP40.

Fish are fed 1-2 times per day. Corals are broadcast fed once per week and spot fed on Sunday nights. Fish food is a mixture of mysis, seaweed delight, and various herbivore additions. Coral food is a mixture of mysis (for lps), reef chili, coral vibrance, aquavitro fuel, frozen cyclopleeze, brightwells microdiet, and phyto.

I also have a 36w UV sterilizer that I will run every 6 months for a couple of weeks.

It is worth noting that as of recently, I have been testing and dosing trace elements with Red Sea's Coral Color program and have noticed definite results.

Did I cover everything?

Great work! Thanks for taking the time to post!

It really helps to see a persons full tank. Its gives alot of credibility to their advice!

Ill be listening!!!

Well Done!

Wow, impressive corals! Makes me want to get Reefbreeders fixture instead of ATI and RW15 pumps instead of mp40s for my current build!

I can't complain. When I moved and upgraded my tank, I considered other LED brands but i figured the RB had been working so well for me, why risk it? So I decided to keep them but just upgrade the size. Logan has been great as well to deal with and happy to help. He sells the individual LEDs also, if you want to modify the spectrum. He also has the WP's in stock if you don't want to wait for international shipping.

Looks great man and the PC rainbow looks likes it has grown a lot. Remember me when it comes time to frag the TDF.
