Tank update shots

Alright, after installing my new Tunze pumps, I have discoverd that in my sized tank, the sand bed will blow all over when the pumps are at full power.

So, I decided to remove all the sand and put it in the fuge as a DSB.

I also re-did some of the plumbing and added some new union BV's (which by the way are very convienient).

There is still a small bit of sand in the tank that I will eventually siphon out over time.

Whatta ya think???

looking sweet man... hows the parameters with the dsb fuge and barebottom? i was thinking of doing the something similar with a 40b or something

Thanks Steve :)

Not really sure how its gonna work.

I'm not going after the whole "BB, low nutient" effect. I'm just looking for tons of flow in the tank w/out causing a sand storm.

I had an H&S nitrate reactor on order, but the only one finsreef recieved from Germany on its last shipment was broken :( So I just decided to try this DSB out and spend the cash on a new 6' set of Hammy 250's instead. It should work just the same.

I was up in the CRS today talking with Brian. He's starting up an SPS tank thats BB with a remote DSB in another tank. It got me thinking, so I went home and used his idea.

CRS is a sweet store BTW. Every week it gets nicer and nicer

But right now I'm kinda gearing up to go reef again, but that won't be for a while.

We'll see how the params do though. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to dial it in :D

Cheers,

Jim

Jim,

I had the same problem with my Tunze. It was so strong that it blew sand away from the front of my tank. I ended up pointing the tunze upward and cut the flow all the way down! I wish Tunze made the holder so that the the PH could be rotated in three dimension.

Thanks tcn!!

Minh,

Yeah, the flow on these things is incredible!!! I like the controller too. I do agree that the magnets should have more placement capabilities. But now that the sand gone in my tank, they're working great!
