Tanks with LEDs...

Here is mine: 60G cube with 36 LEDs (20 RB/16CW), CAT driver.

Here is my Leemar custome 125 gal(48X30X20). I had this tank specifically designed for LED's.It's only been running for about a month,
The fixtures are 120W,16" long x 8.5" wide and 3.0" high. The LED panel window is 12" x 4.75"(14000k and 453nm).

Are those BoostLed fixtures? I've never seen them in white.

Sorry, quoted the wrong item..

I also invested in the Ecoxotic LED Modules. Which ones do you use during the day and night. I bought a couple of the blue stunner strips to add color during the day with the main LED modules, and then I bought a couple UV stunner (purple) strips for moonlighting. Do you use any of the blue stunner strips for moonlighting, or is that too much light during the night?

I use one actinic stunner for an hour or two before moon lighting.

How many degrees does the tank temp differentiate between night & day, LED's on & off? 1-2 degrees?

My three AI Sols are mounted in a canopy with two 5" diameter vent holes on the sides. If my house temp doesn't vary much, <5 degrees, then my water temp stays within a half degree. My heater comes on a lot more. When I had MH's, my daily temp swing was 3-5 degrees. My situation was worse than most because of the closed canopy. YMMV.

1/2 degree, that is super. When I had T5's they would vary 2-3 degreees & during the boiling hot days up to 5 degrees.

I've been skeptical of LEDs recently compared to MH and T5s. I don't know if photography skills are improved or lights are improving but the colors are incredible in these tanks.

Duerkey, I too was skeptical until I saw a DIY fixture on a smaller tank. The intensity of the light, the look and penetration was rather impressive. Thereafter I started to take LED's a little more seriously.

I would still love to follow a thread, where a reefer has been using LED's for quite some time & has some extensive before & after pics of SPS growth & clam support.

I am questioning the following though:
-LED's reducing algae growth. Sounds like a portion of the spectrum might be missing or too low. Corals would instinctively respond to this by extending themselves as much as they possibly can, in order to increase surface area and extract as much as possible. Coral extension might be misinterpreted as rapid growth.

This is something that I have observed with PC lights as well over the years. Acclimate the same corals to T5 lights & the corals don't extend as much, since there is no need to. Giving one the impression that T5's are not as affective. One would get more algae growth with the T5's as well, proof of their effectiveness.

10 gal acrylic AIO with a DIY CREE fixture. 50/50 CW/RB, no optics. The light box is DIY acrylic as well.

There is also a 5 LED fuge light as well.

^^ you should sell those... that setup looks SICK!!!

love that the fuge light acts like a moonlight when the main is off..

GREAT IDEA!!!!

***Do you have a link to a build thread on this tank????***
