Tansu inspired mixed reef & Haddoni:Clown setup

Clay, thank you- it does mean a lot to see your post. If I don't quit, I am certain this will ultimately turn out how it was meant to be.

My friend bought a tank from AGE a year ago and he still hasn't received his tank yet ....
I think local manufacturer will be a better choice for the next tank ....

A year is a pretty long time to wait for a tank to be built, unless it's enormous and built into a house that is also being built.....

I hope your friend is able to get a satisfactory resolution, and an amazing tank in the end!

No nothing enormous and They stop contacting him so
He decide to have it made locally by lee mar

Hey Sugar.. (if you dont mind us calling you that)
Hows the thinking process going? have you got any updates?? did you sell the tank, decide to live with it, find a new tank provider, anything?

Its to pretty to become a book shelf...... it needs a magnificent tank..

:D Sugar is just fine with me, actually made me smile a little!

I thought about you a couple of times, because you were so willing to help me going off of the pics and offer alternative ways. I wondered if you still remember this 'build'.

Well, as it stands now. I am trying to sell the tank. If it doesn't sell, I'm not sure what I will do with it. My thought right now would be to put it in storage until it sells, since it won't fit down the stairs the conventional route. I would have to remove the basement window and get LOTS of people to help me.

I have not heard from A.G.E. and don't expect to if I haven't by now. My thoughts are that he has nothing else to add to his original opinion of the build of the tank. He was kind to keep my tank for a year, so I don't feel it's my absolute right to push for a replacement.

I haven't set foot in that room to finish the last inch of draining since the last post. I've just been bummed is all.

Thanks again for your continued encouragement!

Kathy i have been reading about your ordeal with the tank and i feel for you. If you decide to use the tank do you have a warranty on it? would it cover against defects in case something does happen. I know this is bumming you out, but with all beautiful corals you have, i don't believe you would notice it.

I think she gets no warranty because its not on a "AGE" stand.
but she knew this before ordering the tank.

but, this does bring up a good point.
could you buy an AGE stand and re-claim your warranty?

the manufacturer said that the tank is fine, but i think the actual "warr" is void without their stand.....

but i doubt they could even come close to matching the quality of the tank build.....

i think she would least have a 1 year warranty, i have purchased 2 marineland tanks without the stand, but i received a 1 year warranty. his would give her time to adjust to the tank and if something would happen then she would be covered.

Gbox, that's a good idea, but my goal was to not set up another tank. If I were to do it, I would consider getting a stand made by them for the warranty, or go with the woodworking crew that did my cabinetry in this thread because as dahenley wrote, I doubt A.G.E. would match the quality.

Thanks for your comments...... and my nice corals? Almost non-existent as the system I had set up was temporary and not ideal. I had 12"+ colonies that have turned to rock after a few months. It's stable now, but it will mostly be starting over.

Dahenley is right. Warranty is void unless it's on an A.G.E. (3 yrs) stand or another tank manufacturer (1 yr) stand. I think 1 yr. warranty is probably as meaningful as no warranty.

However, in the very beginning when I first had drawn what I wanted. I asked about getting the tank and stand made by A.G.E. I felt great because initially, A.G.E. said their wood shop is top notch and well suited to requests.

After some back and forth, the end result was that A.G.E. did not want to make the stand because it was too complicated. It would have also been very pricey to ship. I also went to another top fish store to request a quote, but did not hear back. My feeling there was they may not have wanted or had the time to do it.

At that time, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to a high end woodworking team with an understanding of aquariums (he owns fish) through one of my fav. LFS. After looking at their portfolio and talking to them, I was confident that the canopy and stand would be flawless, and stand perfectly level after install. They exceeded expectations with their follow through and no doubt I would ask them to re-do my Gigantea/Clown tank stand and canopy if there was enough time and money.

Just recently, someone at work told me to go to a different store and possibly introduce me to an expert glass person to re-seal my tank without any bubbles. I may consider that.

Does that expert know that your not dealing with glass on glass, but glass on acrylic? I know the method would be the same, but different sealent would be required.
Seeing as AGE has been so nice to You, and prompt with your emails, you may ask if they would sell you some of their silicon. That way your using OEM sealant. Plus its made for the acrylic to glass bonding

I have followed this thread from the start and really feel for you. I am having similar issues as what to do with my glass 220 that I am not happy with the build quality and the manufacturer will not rebuild. I had to move to a temp house and it gave me a chance to step back and really look at the situation. At the end of the day I decided I need to break down the tank and reseal completely. Not what I wanted to do on a tank that has not seen a drop of water, but the cost to reseal is worth it in the amount of sleep I would loose if I had not.

I went around and around in my head on what to do and finally I made a list of options and looked at the pros and cons of each. It is a hobby and we do it because we like to look at fish and if the bubbles are going to take away from that I say redo it.

henley, I have exactly the same concerns as you. I did ask about that and was told this person was very experienced and had just made a tank with pvc bottom. For some reason, I thought A.G.E. had this proprietary glue that bonds acrylic to glass and pvc to glass. It's a good suggestion and doesn't hurt to ask.

Nathan, I'm so sorry to read about your troubles. I believe if it makes you feel more at peace, then it was the right thing to do. I struggled with my decision for a while, as you did and felt much better after I made the decision to not use the tank. I hope it has all worked out for you!

Hello my friend! Nothing has happened. Currently, I have a verbal confirmation that someone is interested in the tank. My wire ducts/tracks came in and I haven't had the inspiration to start cutting them. They are the grey kind, 2x2" to hide your electrical underneath the cabinet.

I hope to be able to move forward with this by the end of Spring-ish.
