tapping acrylic tube for PVC fittings

Can I expect a good seal in 4.5" OD - 1/4" wall acrylic tube with 1/2" PVC threaded fitting?

I've used the uni-seals before and they do work. Not a leak on my 1/8" walled reactor in 2 years, but thought do the next one different.

Depends. Is the acrylic cast or extruded? Extruded, give up it will not work. Cast, if you do a good job of threading it will work, but I would still be worried. I would use weldon 40 to glue the PVC into the tubing after you cut a very snug hole for it to fit into. Or use the uniseals.
