Taylor's Tech 120 build

Here's my light hanger. I used a 5 foot piece of poplar and screwed it into 4 studs. I mounted some 1/2 inch steel rods to it. I don't have the lights yet but wanted to make sure I didn't have to do this over a full tank of water.

The plumbing is done too. You can't see it in the picture but there are unions on the pipes coming out of the bulkheads.

I like how you did your light rack. I am afraid of hanging a 60'' fixture over my tank thats mounted from the ceiling so I might try what you did. So you just used a painted piece of wood and rails?

Yeah, I used the metal piping from the plumbing section. They had two foot pipes that were threaded on both ends so I had someone at home depot cut off the tip of one end. I still need to find some type of end cap since it isnt the cleanest cut. They have these threaded circle plates that I screwed into the wood with 4 screws each. I then just screwed the pipe into the circle plate.

Things are looking great! I have the same model skimmer as your 150, but I have a 110! Its doing a really nice job also. Let me know how yours does. Tank has a lot of potential:D

Great build so far, I love those Tech tanks, too bad they don't make them anymore. What bulb combo are you running?

Thanks, I really love the look of rimless tanks but Im really liking having the black euro brace. It hides the water really well and gives me a place to set things down when working in the tank which I've never had before.

5 blue +
2 coral +
1 purple +

On mine if I could change one thing it would be the overflow. I would drill the back and do a ghost type overflow. The existing one is just plain too large. That is my only gripe though. I also love the eurobracing.

Yeah it is huge but I think I'll be ok with it till my next upgrade. What lighting do you have over yours?

So my AquaMaxx rocks have been submerged for about 4 days now and I just tested for phosphates. I was expecting them to be pretty high. Does it normally just take a while for the phosphates to leach out?
