On Saturday April 12th at 2pm in Lutz the Tampa Bay Reef Club will hold its first Annual Spring Trim and Trade event. After a long winter of focusing on our tanks while the harsh winter weather rages on outdoors we will be hosting an event to help cut back those over grown colonies and find something to fill that blank space in your tank.

The April meeting of Tampa Bay Reef Club will be expanded to a Frag Swap and reef related swap meet. The swap will be open to members and non-members alike. If you have anything tank related bring it on out and sell/trade/swap or give it away to your fellow reefers.

Frag Swap:
SPS, LPS, Softies, Snails, Crabs, Fish, Algae bring it out
Bring a tank, light and powerhead and display those beauties like they deserve, or just bag them. If you trim them they will sell.

Equipment Swap:
Skimmers, Tanks, Pumps, Powerheads, Bulbs, Reflectors, Heaters, Chillers, Fans, plumbing; if you have it someone wants it

Bring a table, or share some space on one. We will have several available.

Guest Speaker:
We will also have Chris Guntner from ReeFlo Pumps speaking to us about proper flow in reef tanks and how to size pumps for your tank. We are looking to have one additional speaker at the event too.

Raffle:
We will also be hosting a raffle at this event. Currently we have donations from ReeFlo, Tunze, Hamilton, Two Little Fishies, and Sunlight Supply. We are working to bring in even more items from other manufactures for you guys to have a chance to win and try out.

Good Eats and Good Friends:
We will have some BBQ going (there may be a small nominal charge for BBQ) and of course our normal Pot Luck. So bring out one of your favorite dishes and enjoy an afternoon of fish talk and frag swaps with your reefing friends. Please let us know if you are going to attend so we can have enough meat on the grill.

**In March we will talk about fragging, how to frag SPS, LPS, and Softies. We also recieved some nice donations from Two Little Fishies that may com in handy for fragging...

Watch http://tampabayreefclub.com for more details.

Yes this is going to be our actual April meeting. We are just expanding it and inviting everyone to come on out.

It will be a Sue's house in Lutz, we will see her new tank (I saw it Saturday, coming along NICE)

Link should be TBRC

I do not have a map up... it is in 3 months.

We just wanted to be sure this was out there for everyone to pencil in.

What about doing a sand exchange like they are doing in ORCA? Here is the deal, everyone brings one Solo Cup full of live sand from a non pest tank(gotta be honest here). For every cup you bring, you get the same amount in return. What will happen is it will all get thrown into a big bucket, mixed up and then come back and fill up your cup.

Cost: Free, as long as you put in
Benefit: Bio-diversity of sand bed

What do you guys think?

Here is another idea too, we could buy a bunch of dry sand, take donations of everyone's live sand at the March meeting plus a buck or two for the dry sand and then ration out even more than you gave!!

Aww Man, is there anyway that we can change this to the weekend before or after? It is my fraternity's Alumni Weekend and I will be in Jacksonville.

I wish I could Chris but I made sure that I was on vacation that week so that I could get everything ready for the event. I cannot change mine and my husbands vacation plans. I am sorry that you cannot make it.

(sounds cool) Hello everyone we are Joel and Denise. This will be our first meeting we will be attending. I have a frag of rainbow monti it's about half dollar around and 1 inch high. I would like to trade for a superman monti. My question is what are the chances of someone bring one?

Hello Joel and Denise,

There have been a few for sale. I know a member (Emster) had a few and he is going but not sure if he is bringing any corals. But bring yours; I'm sure it will sell.
