tbs is it worth hunting down all the unwanted pests

:D Good for you to get it before Richard goes on Vacation. I wouldn't really clean or scrub anything ... unless it smells really stinky (which it won't) .. do the dunks and maybe some seltzer flushes if you see or suspect something in a hole .. have a set of forceps ... they come out in parts also :lolspin: Like scowiii said, you're not gonna get them all and there really isn't anything like a gila monster lurking .... If it were me, I'd just go ahead and let it get acclimated to its new home ... cycle and all ... you re going to lose some of the sponges anyway, no matter what .. it just happens .. but they will come back - it's amazing (Just before lights out, I have a gorilla that just tunneled out from under (luckily) a rock on the side where I can set a trap or use the old bar-b-que fork method:lol2: .. the stuff won't break .. it's amazing .. 30 minutes after you have it in the wter it will look like different rock (it kinda looks dead when u unpack it)...post if u have any problems or questions (as u can tell, I'm over the jittes and rarin to go) ...
Most of all ... HAVE FUN :celeb3:
Bruce ... (don't forget to snap a few pics as you go .... we'll be lookin for 'em)

well i got everything in the tank last night, correction this morning, there was a delay with the flight and i didn't get to pick it up until about 10:15 last night. richard was so right when he said to call first, i would call and the flight kept being delayed an hour each time but no big deal just made for a long night. the last rock went in at 3:30 this morning. doesn't have really have any color to it yet but i can see where it is starting to get more color to it. my largest rock (dang that thing was heavy)has a large area w/yellow polyps all over it, they arent extended out but can tell something is there, just not sure what. i will try to post of picture tomorrow of it. one of the boxes when i got to the airport was busted and i dont know how long it was like that. i hope it didnt take too much of a toll on the rock in it. man does he pack that stuff well. i was impressed before i even open it all the way up. i used the seltzer water before i put it in the tank but i didnt get much out, just a couple very small crabs, mostly gorillas and quite a few star fish but i am sure there is plenty more where they came from. in both of my boxes of sand there was what almost looked like a baby cuddle fish but they were both dead, shame but that's okay i wouldnt have been able to keep them anyway. i cant wait until the colors start coming out on the rock. i have several feather dusters and a soft coral. cant wait for part 2 in july i still have plenty room..

Good news ....

Good news ....

I was just going to reply that we had not heard anything ... glad to hear it arrived and that you didn't really lose anything. The color wil lcome out when everything acclimates itself .. you'll be amazed. Can't wait to see the pics ... I went to get some food and some new test kits at my favorite LFS and wound up buying some small corals. They are great. So while taking some pics, I did one that I always want to do .. it even looks like the stuff we all see online /mags .. need some adjustment with the technique, but it looks pretty impressive ... hope you think so also ... You're up next :wavehand:

i really liked the way you aquascaped your tank, it looks great, gives you plenty of room for your fish to go through, good water circulation and plenty room for coral placement which is sooooo additive, i have about 15 corals in my small tank, cant wait to load the new one up but still going to be a while. i am going to try to post you some pics, wish me luck....

GEEZ .. I didn't get one of those until part2 !!! Good stuff ... you'll be amazed at how fast it comes along ... what do you think so far? Looks like you have a great beginning. Give us a shot of the whole tank if u can ... Did you try to upload to the gallery? That way you can insert them in the thread or people can click on the camera choice at the beginning of each post. Looks like you'll be O.K. Fine and Happy ... I know I sure am ...:)

I tried to put them in the gallary but even after i resized them it kept telling me the file was too large. i read all of the links you posted and thats the only way i was able to post them. you can post pics on my behalf if you want, lol. I am really happy with the rock  , i am following richards instructions and only have the light on 5 hours a day for now but i can tell the color really comes out more the longer i have the lights on. i will post a full tank shot for you too, i don't have it arranged at this point, i figured would be easier to trap critters if they were separated. notice the large one in the middle it is an awesome rock but what a back breaker. :eek2: i just found a tiny shrimp in some of the water i used for the cleaning today he is in a tank all by himself right now. he is still clear but has big pinchers almost like a coral banded, gonna be impossible to get a clear pic of him though. i have several snails and several starfish and i can see little critters hiding in the rocks just cant make out where they are yet because they are playing hide and seek. cant wait to see what package 2 has to offer. i am counting the days till richard gets back in july. that just give the rock and extra 30 days to mature right? that's atleast what i am telling me self.. oh i resposted the pic of the rock w/the mussell on it because if you will look right in front of it there was a very small piece loose and at first there was nothing on it but now it has a white sponge covering it.

Nice Tank

Nice Tank

Really nice .. I wuld have gone bigger than 90G, but the wal in the foyer where I have it would only take 48" wide ... it's a vaulted ceiling with a skylight (no direct sun on the tank) so it was the best place ... I have the boulder that sank the Titanic ... about 52lbs. !! but believe it or not, that is now the top rock in the center of my scaping ... go figure ... I wouldn't arrange anything until you get part 2 .. you would just take it apart anyway .. the second half is more reasonable size stuff and makes a good base for building caves with the bigger rocks on top ... have a new gorilla I discovered, a small stone and 3 dead bodies (partially chewed up by guess who) ... he has to go ... he likes eating rock anad stuff, but that is just what they do... I was hopin t o keep him in th reef, but he is not a good reef fish. Your pics must be smaller than 50K... I have Vista and the resize to small web view choice got me under (about 30+/-) .. if u have t ospecify XbyY .. 400x400 (height/width gets u around 46.8K) .. try one and see .... Keep me posted on what is going on .... if u don'w want to do it by thread, just send me and e-mail off tmy profile ... that's our real email address. Keep in touch ..:wavehand: ... Bruce ..

getting part 2 tomorrow cant wait to see what richard has in store for me, will post some pics as soon as the water clears the aniticipation is driving me crazy but i have waited this long another day wont kill me.

I got my part 2 last night and it is better than I imagined, richard threw in an extra rock for me it is awesome and it's huge and covered with corals and has a beautiful, the hardest part for me is going to be the aquascaping all the rock is so nice you just hate to cover any of it up. Besides my rock I got tons of goodies, you should have heard me, I was yelling at my son like a kid at christmas "come look what richard sent me" of course he thought I was nuts which he is right, I am nuts over my tbs. among the goodies I got I orange and red tree sponge, a purple frilly gongorian, tiger goby, an unidentified brown fish, porcelain crab, rock flower anemone, an orange snail and much more. richard called me at work yesterday to let me know that the shipment was sent off and when I could expect it and he told me that he sends his customers just what he would in his tank and I believe it :bounce1: I cant thank richard enough   I have always said that since I cant live at the ocean I have to bring the ocean to me and with my richard and my tbs I got it!!! if there is anyone out there that has any hesitation about tbs, dont, it's not too good to be true, it is! you get more bang for your buck that's for sure..

 Glad to hear all came in well ... and that you didn't drop Mt Everest thru the bottom of the tank:lol: Can't wait for the pics .. also hope you got some unwanteds washed off before the LR went in the tank ... Wait another week or two and see what grows!!!! Have to talk to Richard as I am going to do the FOwlr for Picasso (and company???) Good luck ... you'll look like a dancin' raisin by the time you're finished re-scaping:D
And a BIG  to Richard ....

Why bother, the pests dont really cause any harm is a properly fed tank, just enjoy the rock, and stock your tank accordingly.
