Hey guys,

What are you getting for TDS input on your R.O. systems. I am in Orangevale/Citrus border. Fair Oaks and Woodmore Oaks. I have a reading of 29 comming out of my sink tap.

Just curious as to what others are getting in different parts of Sacramento. My Brother is in Rosemont near hwy 50 and bradshaw. His is 85!!

Holy crap I wish!Your not just testing it under running water are you?
Mine tests 215 out of the tap in a containor, Im near the roseville rd, antelope intersection.

I have around 31 ppm in Natomas.

I used to live in Davis, for the 5 years that I was there, I usually see 400-500 ppm depend on days, since they use underground water, never up to 700+ ppm tho. anyhow, it kill your DI resin like nothing, sucks big time...
 
DarkDevil - what part of Davis did you live in. I have never had a reading less than 700. Most of my reading hoovers around 730-750.
 
In Roseville water tests 39 tds. I acually thought my new tds meter was not working right, I was expecting to see something like 200+.

Davis tap water - 700+. I have measured as high as 900. I wish I had 85. LOL

WOW.. how often you have to replace the filter/DI??
 
For those with very high TDS, 700 to more I would suggest installing a water softener in your house. Water with such a high content of minerals is very agresive with appliances and faucet packings. It will also extend the life of your RO/DI system significantly plus improving how your skin looks :D
That last one might not be important for lizzard skinned people like me but I know I could not get my wife off my back on that one. :lol:

The device is basically a conductivity meter which uses two electrods and some voltage to measure the ions that move from one electrode to the other.
For water they are relatively inexpensive instruments, they can be hand held or they can be installed in line with the water system. Also there are the ones that read in ppm (Parts per million) which are usually refered to as TDS meter and others that basically turn a red light when the TDS level has exceeded a set point mostly referred to as TDS monitors.
 
Wow... Broad spectrum. I wonder if this is related to local water treatment plants or what? Plant source water? I guess that explains why I get 0 tds out of my simple three stage setup. No DI needed unless I move.

jlfnjlf BTW. I test for TDS (Total disolved solids) in a glass right outta the faucet.
