TDS question

As some may remember, I crashed my 365 gallon tans and sump about 5 Oreo years ago. My fault! It's been down ever since . Water still running through it but only one fish and zero corals. I really do have a beautiful tank at one time.
I got aggrevated and shut it down.
Now to present day, I'm putting a 20 gallon nano together for my 4 year old grandson. I've got a "œair water ice" Typhoon lll , replaced all cartridges and membrane. My DI beads are going to be here Friday. RO water should be around 0-5 ppm if memory serves me correct. I'm getting 45!
I've run the membrane water for about 20 minutes, and RO has been running for about 45 min. I am going to check TDS when I get back home. Anyone have any ideas of what I could have missed?

Are you testing a sample directly from the filter? RO water will pick up TDS from some containers and from the air, although 45 ppm is fairly high. What is the tap water reading?

Tap water is 102. I'm running directly from RO into a cutoff Ozarka bottle rinse with the RO water 3/4 times. I found my "œairwaterice "œ tds checkerit shows (within 4 or 5 ppm) the same as the new TRS monitor. The Ozarka water shows to be 35/37 ppm. I'm now thinking my new membrane might be the problem.
I've always used Filmtec in the past and never had a problem. Went with FS-TFC this time. Know nothing about them. I also went with a 50 GPD membrane instead of the 159 GPD the system is rated for. I have no idea why i cheapened up on this, this time. I'm guessing a brain fart at my age.
On another not this has got me to wanting to get my big system going again.

When you change the flow rate of the membrane you have to change the flow restrictor to match it. Bet that is your problem.

I’m going to purchase a new membrane to match flow restrictor. It never donned on me to consider that.

Ok, it’s only fair to tell everyone just how ignorant I am. I hate to admit it but my problem was my fault. There are two small valves controlling the RO and RO bypass. To run RO only water the RO bypass valve has to be off! Yep, it was on! I didn’t notice it was on, causing dirty bypass water to mix with my clean RO water. Now, RO is running 003 ppm.

Okay, I'm glad to hear that your unit is working properly. That sounds like a much more reasonable TDS.
