heres something interesting on my meter. my tap water read out at 194 while my RO/DI water came out at 224... hmm does that mean i need to replace my filters? even going through the 6 stages how can it come out higher? it should read between 0 - 50 according to this meter..

I would get another reading with a differnet meter.....coming in @194 and going out @ 224 Do seem right, even if your filters needed replacement
Just my 2 cents

first give them some time and try again, maybe 2-3 times, for precision's sake. Then try some LFS water or someone else nearby you's water, or compare with someone else's. LFS should have a TDS meter to compare to... should is the operative word.

ok. ill try and test someones elses water. ill check it again in a sec. thanks guys. could the filters have anything to do with it? or even if they are bad should it still be lower?

even if they were bad you should still be in the <20 range
Mines 173 going in and 0 coming out and my filters are about 14 months old

ok wow. so this time when i check it my tap water was 202. my RO/DI unit was flashing 999 at me. i checked it 3 times just now with 3 different samples of water from the ro/di unti.. my tap water seems right by why in the hell is my do unit all jacked?

pfft thats i have no idea. they were used for prolly 1-2 years then the whole setup was given to me and i had it all sitting in a box for about 6 months. i just started using it. pfft i dont think i was helping matter in my tank by using it...

btw i ran the ro/di water for about 15 mins and now the readout is 203.. i dont get it...

The way I look at it even you had it running for 1-2 years the filters should have been changed.. You maybe getting a correct reading then, if the unit has been sitting for 6 months with bad filter. What you can do is take the filters out and hose them off under high pressure and reinstall them and take another reading. If your reading goes down I would go out and buy new filters and install them and change ever year....:)

Ive always ordered mine from "The Filter Guys" sponsor of the board. Great service and good support

I second bckane on Filter Guys. Very very nice. Call them on the phone and tell them your story and they will walk you through everything and tell you what you need to buy.

My RO/DI clocked in at 48, publix RO water clocked in at 2, water from the fridge door at 78 and tap water from the sink at 126

Cool little TDS meter :)
