teardrop maxima - other color

They aren't mine.
Another user posted these awhile ago.
I found them a few weeks back during a search.
So pretty I had to save a copy. :)

Here is an okay pic. Its hard to take the pics at such a steep angle. So far the clam is doing very well but you know how these guys are......3 months perfect and sudden gaping and death overnight. Knock on wood...

wow, nice.
looks like still adjusting to your tank condition.
How deep is your tank?

Yes it seems to be doing very well so far. It is down about 24". Since I am running 400W it should do just fine but was sort of wondering what feedback people have about this depth. This picture makes it look dim but it is actually VERY bright down there.

I dunno...I have a 180 (6x2x2) and while I usually keep my max's and crocea's in the rockwork, There are several on the sand bed (no more than 2" tall) so at least 22" or so and I light w/T5s and it seems ok. Growth is VERY slow, but no bleaching/color changes and reasonable expansion of mantles. If I move 'em up of course they open up more and grow better...I'd think w/400s as long as they aren't way up off the water it'd be fine.

Thank you. My 400 is 3 inches over the water...I think all the reflection off the glass and sand also helps bump up the brightness.

Agent-Is your tank 18" wide? How is the light spread with the lamps that close to the surface?

Well the tank is 30L X 24W X 24T . I should clarify that I used a PFO pendant/hood with reflector and the bottom of the pendant is 3" off the water. The actual bulb is probably 6" off the water. The pendant mounts parallel to the front so the light spreads parallel to the front as well. No problems with shading or dark spots.
