Tek Light Elite availability

Jeremy,

Are the 48" 8x54w elite fixtures available as of yet? I know it was stated that there was an issue with the reflector material at one point.

Thanks

I got an email from sunlight supply stating the 6 bulb lights where being shipped and the 8 bulb are still in the final stages of design and testing.

Also hoping the Par comparison is coming soon, sorry for a little pressure. Me as well as others I am sure are on the fence about which one to buy. I am leaning towards the elite but from all I have read to date is that the sunpower is far better. I really want to change out my Metal halides for a nice t5 fixture. Seeing some actual numbers would be great in helping to make the choice.

Thanks.

From the testing we have done so far the ATI Sunpower 6 x 54w is producing right at 20% - 25% more par than the Tek Light Elite 6 x 54w, in a 48" x 18" area. Going outside of the 18" area (tanks tanks that are 24" - 36" front to back) the Elite starts to climb up in par, and eventually surpassing that of the ATI Sunpower.

We have been in communication with Sunlight Supply for the last couple of days in regards to this, and they are considering looking at a new reflector for the Elite which will give more par straight down like the Sunpower does, but less in the far outer reaches of the tank. This would give the hobbyist two options, depending upon the footprint of the system.

I also tested an ATI Powermodule 6 x 54w and noticed less than 2% lighting increase from the ATI Sunpower.

All tests were performed at 19.5" through air only, using only brand new ATI Blue Plus lamps in the fixtures. Test numbers were taken after 90 minutes of run time on all fixtures to allow them to get up to full temperature.

Thanks for the testing and getting back to us so promptly. So basicaly those of us with 24" wide tanks the elite is a much better choice.

If have a 24" front to back tank or larger, then you would want to go with the Elite in my opinion. If it's 18" front to back, the ATI is the better way to go, speaking of 6 lamp setups only.

Hey Jeremy,
Would you mind doing one more comparison between ATI and the new 36" 6 bulb Reef illumination from Icecap. I understand that ATI is the cream of the crop, but unfortunately there really isn't a T5 fixture with moonlights. Any info on the new Icecap fixture will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I've got this one salted to be tested as well as soon as it's in stock. We will also be testing a Nova Extreme Pro just for grins and giggles to see how it fairs with all of these other 6 lamp fixtures.

Test results yet? Dang it man! Hurry up! :lmao:

Jeremy, did you happen to take any readings close to the bulbs. I would be curious to see how the Elite compares to the ATI at say 2". Just wondering how much of a difference there is before the light starts to spread out.

I didn't take any close numbers, I will try and do so in the future though.

We tested an Icecap, as well as a Nova Extreme Pro, and the numbers were WAY down. Both the Icecap and Nova Extreme Pro were right at half just over half of the output of what the ATI fixtures were. I think this goes to show the difference in the Chinese ballasts being used by Icecap and CurrentUSA, and a good European or American made ballast being used by Sunlight Supply and ATI. Of course reflectors play a role as well, but there is definitely some ballast input going on there too.

Thanks Jeremy. Appreciate it man.

Which Icecap and NEP models did you test? I assume the 48" models?
