Tell me gasters are available some where!

Just floating out a feeler. Has anybody heard about any chrysogasters becoming available here soon?

WHERE?, WHO HAS THEM?

I want a pair!!! Badly!

A. chrysogaster was my first "clarkii" clownfish back in the early 80s - the old school store where I found him sold it to me for about 30 German Marks (~10 USD back then) - as a clarkii.
But after studying Allan's Anemonefish book I realized that it was in fact a chrysogaster. Unfortunately I never managed to find another one to make a pair. Back then fish from the French Indian Ocean territories Mauritius and Réunion would sometimes find their way into European stores, but even then more came from Kenya, Egypt, Singapore the Philippines and the Caribbean.
Even DeJong never had them when I got there - and they had some crazy rare stuff from off the map places.

My group from 2008 in a big mertensii, sadly lost to a power outage. One of the two direct from Hawaii sites was promoting a Mauritius shipment about a month ago including A. chrysogaster. I asked for four but nothing seems to have materialized. Quality Marine had true Madagascar clowns 2 weeks ago for a reasonable wholesale price. Not the same I know, but rare nonetheless.

Correct me if I'm wrong but true Madagascar clowns would be latifasciatus? I'm curious to know what the price on them was.

Wholesales was $170? There are pictures on the Quality website. You can find captive bred for much less on eBay. I got mine from a guy in Illinois (deangelr09).

Someone of RC was breeding them a few years ago.. may still be breeding them, search the threads you might find something..

I believe that was Marina that was breeding them. I don't think she's producing them anymore.

Yep, no gasters this year. Had to substitute fish breeding hobby for get-your-child-into-college hobby. We are done, acceptances are in, and I am not going to miss this process.

Americans have funny hobbies.
University is free in Germany and with few exceptions acceptance is not an issue, especially not in engineering fields. Universities usually curb sudent numbers with brutal exams and high resulting dropp out rates during the first few semesters - by the end of the first year 30 to 50% are gone.
In my last years at University I spend 80% of my time on breeding and hardly went to lectures, yet still passed all exams. Not that I need much of the stuff for work these days... Instead of applied physics I should have rather learned something useful :debi:

I am in the same boat as you. My first of three. How time fly. It seem like yesterday when I hold my first born with one hand. He is bigger than I am now. Leaving me and gong to the university this Sept.
