temp ?

My heaters come on at 77.5 and fans come on at 81 so it could be anywhere in that range depending on the outside temps.

My tank goes from 78 - 80.7

Always thought it was getting too warm but , i have to work with it for now.

I would like to accomplish 77-79 but can't right now.

76ish, but after talking to the owner of the brunswick store I unplugged my heater two years ago.

How do you keep the temp up without a heater? Lights / other equipment?

I have to admit I have not used a heater in years. Lighting plus fan on timer keeps water at 80-82 during the day, temp in morning down around 78.

With most of my system in the basement I have trouble keeping the water warm. This winter I ran five 300 watt heaters and they wouldn't keep up. I added another one to the fuge to help even things out a bit. My AC3 reported the temp as being 76.5 a few times during cold spells. I think it would help if I could get the 55g barrel off the cement floor so it wouldn't transfer cold so easily.

I said that my heaters kick on at 77 but I have two stages of heaters. The first stage comes on at 77.5 and if the water continues to lose heat and hits the 77 mark then the second set of heaters kick on. The temp usually stays right at 78 or so with the lights on. In the summer I may see a couple of 81 degree peaks if we leave the windows open and let the house hit 80 or something. If it does hit 81 then the fans kick on and it cools off quickly by blowing across the fuge surface.

I had the same problem until I wraped my sump in batt insulation and placed a top on just the return section.

Overdriven T5 bulbs help with the temp but I would guess at night it gets pretty chilly, in the morning it pretty cold to touch. But think about it at 100 feet deep where corals grow do we really think it in the upper 70's???
