Temperature drop during cycle

Hi all,

I am on day 18 of my first tanks cycle. It is a 90L AIO cube.

Yesterday I reroute some cables and forgot to turn my heater back on. It has been off for approx. 24hrs.

My temperature has dropped from a stable 26c (28.8F) to 19c (66.2F)

Luckily this is a fish less cycle so no casualties. I hope my stupid mistake hasn't set me back but I am glad I made it now rather than later.

My question is, will my cycle be affected?

Shouldn't be affected by it I would think

Has your tank spiked ammonia yet? Do you have any nitrites or nitrates?

Plenty of nitrates (0.5 - 0.10) no nitrites and it hovers around 0.25ppm ammonia (Red Sea kit)

I didn't actively monitor for ammonia but if I drop a full block of bloodworms in and test ammonia 24hrs later it shows 0.25 (last 2-3 tests through the week)

Also try another ammonia test, some can read falsely as I think yours has done. With what you say it comes back down to the .25 Which I'm thinking is actually 0 you are cycled. But please confirm this with maybe your lfs testing it.

I have heard of the API kits doing this but Red Sea? My kit read 0 one time this week. I didn't feed the tank today so I can see if it drops to 0 tomorrow. If not I'll take some water to my LFS.

You never know, that is why I always check against another kit just to make sure. Yes it could be correct, but with the way your saying sounds like its cycled. Just odd to go down to the .25 reading every time with no nitrites.
