temperature probe

On my AC3 pro I noticed that my temperature readings were in the low 20's (°F - I checked). When I unplug the probe the temperature reading stays at the same value.

I am thinking that the probe is shot and that I need to buy a new one. I just want to double check with you to make sure that buying a new probe will solve the problem. I don't want to buy a new probe if it isn't going to work.

Yes, classic temp probe failure will result in a temp reading at or near 20 so it sounds like you need a new temp probe.

My Apex lite 1 day old temp probe works fine in base module but I get that 20F reading in PM2? Trying to calibrate cond using temp correction and manual states a temp probe needs to be in same module. Any thoughts?

It sounds like the probe is not enabled for that module. Check via the display module using Setup - Temp Setup - Temp Enable.
