Temps this week and no lights while gone

So I'm off in a trip tonight returning the evening of the 4th. So I have switched off my lights after seeing forcasts of 103 this week. Now I see the forcast is low nineties but there you go. Fans will all do their stuff as usual so I'll make sure the auto-top-off is full of RO/DI.

Wondered if anyone else was taking similar action just-in-case. Course if we get a power cut for the time I'm away, I'm hosed as I don't have a house sitter to set up my generator.

Fingers crossed.

Not really giving to shakes .. San Francisco and all, but strangely I did lose power a couple times a few days ago, at first thought it was my wiring but then why would that affect the whole house without tripping any breakers... then I saw the street light go out too so figured I was ok :D Of course I did find out my return pump (Rio HF) doesn't like to restart on it's own without some coaxing

Got house AC?? I would leave it on at 78 or so. You should be ok with the light off for couple days.
How reliable is your auto off unit? My friend left for a week. His auto didn't work at all. He came home and the water was below the OF box. He lost several things.

Yeah, if there is a short power outage I'll be OK.... except no skimming as I have a Rio on that right now (plans to fix that). Ijust have visions of last years extended outage.... I bought the generator after losing a fish.

Auto-top off is great and never miss-fires.... unless the Rubbermaid runs out of RO... not a completely auto-auto-top-off at this time. When I'm gone for a week, I get a visitor who is handy and he keeps the rubbermaid full and I know i could rely on him to figure out if the thing has stopped working.

I'm cheap and I don't want my AC on :)

I've read threads where people delibrately leave off their lights and the tank looks 'awesome' afterwards... well I think they are kidding themselves a little but at least no one chimes in and says there are major problems if you run sans-lights.

I assume you have a nifty programmable thermostat, if so why not set the AC to 80F from 1pm to 4 pm? Those are usually the hottest hours of the day

I set it at around 79 when we don't come home for several days. Unless it's over 90 outside, the AC usually doesn't kick in.
