- this link shows a schematic for a 50 gal tenecor pentagon. Mine's a 120 (they didnt have the drawing for the 120 on their site) ...so the design is similar, but the sides are 36inches and it is 36 inches deep...

I have around 200 lbs of liverock, various softies and a dsb.

As you can see, access is limited and nothing can be "hung" on the sides because of the acrylic top. The deco-rock that tunze makes - with the stream installed - when placed in the rocks - is it heavy enough where it's not going to move around when pushing water?

what size stream would you recommend for this tank. thanks in advance..

I would recommend the 6000. The Deco rock is ceramic and it weighs 6lbs. I don't think it is going anywhere. You do not want to put the deco rock in your rock work- it needs to be removable for service and should always be on top.

so, you're saying.... "on" rather than "in" ... it could be placed on the top of a rock or... on top between two rocks?

thanks again..

I would just set on top of a short stack of rocks. You could put a few small rocks with nothing growing on them over it. It is good practice to clean Streams every few months.

sorry to bother you again roger, but....

the 6000 is almost twice the cost of the 6060 .... the 6060 isn't
electronically controllable, the 6000 is...

unless I was going to buy the controller (the 6010 kit), the 6060 would be the way to go... right?

You would have much more benefit to have varying levels of currents in your tank. Unless you have means to vary currents in your tank other than Tunze stream 6060 or 6080, stream 6000 is the way to go.

The electronics add greatly to the features of the pump. I guess I would see it as buying a Carrera or buying a Boxster. The Boxster is OK but it is mainstream and not really a Porsche. The Carrera is the genuine article. Tunze is famous for these electronics and they enable speed control, pulsing, and feature an alarm to notify you of any pump problems. All are really nice features and worth the money in my opinion.

one last quick question...

as I mentioned in my first post, the tank is a pentagon (basically triangular.....)

the return is back in the right angle corner of the tank... if I put the 6000 back in this corner, aimed toward the middle of the front of the tank... the distance is just a little over 2 feet......

will this be a problem?

the tank is 30 inches deep....

thanks
