Why cant we make our own test? How simple it is?

Why cant we get closer as a reduction. EX. Test one calls for 5ml of water we use 5mil, than it calls for 6 drops of fluid we add 6 drops. Wouldnt this give us a more consantrated reeding?

The primary problem in DIY tests is getting the chemicals. Most folks cannot buy random chemicals, and if you could, the small amount you'd buy at once will be as much or more than many kits.

That said, you can DIY for some tests. I do it for alk and it is much more accurate and reliable, but you'd need to have a source of standard acid, like 0.1 N HCl.
