HI! the pad is called a PURA FILTRATION . I purchased mine at Fins for 7.59 and cut it to make 2 pieces inside my eheim. You have to change the pad one time a month. My dream pad, will always keep these on hand.

Too bad I couldn't make it. Working in restaurant makes it hard to make to the meetings.....The filter pad that your talking about, is that the one you were talking about before, the phosphate removing pad? Give me more details since I couldn't make it, thanks!

the filter pads that i use that remove phosphates are called poly filter. I know the poly filters are really good and have dropped my phosphates down and helped me out alot with algae problems in the past when i used tap water. heres a link to the pad jfolley67 is refering to http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=MN3311 it does say it removes phosphates and alot of other stuff. they have these at my lfs so ill have to try them out. I have to order the poly filter online so this will save me from online ordering if there as good as the polyfilter.

edit: from what ive read since i posted these do better then the poly filters. jfolley i couldnt find any info on about how long they last. how often do you have to change yours out?

are the poly filters you talk about white? If so I think I know what you are talking about....if not, no I have not tried. If it is the white, I was not successful at getting rid of red slime using it....which I spoke about at the meeting. The Pura Pad was amazing, I am not sure how, but it truly found whatever was lurking in my tank and handled getting rid of it well.

Mike, sorry you could not make it, I hope you got all the info on the pad you need, we talked about red slime issues.....I had it bad in our tank for a year and just about gave up this hobby because of it, discovered these pads and boom, within a few days.....red slime GONE. Never to have returned. I cut the pad into an eheim filter so I get 2 months worth....because you only change them once a month but you can fit them into your sump, I hear some are doing.....cheap fix it was after spending tons of all that "get rid of slime" chemical garbage that worked for a day and it would all just come right back!

Glad to help, so glad I could share some good info on something at the meeting....and of course to the ones that couldn't make it as well...good luck!
