That Awesome Feeling

I finally got the opportunity to purchase a healthy, eating, already on several frozen foods, and well sized bipartius leopard wrasse. My LFS got about 25 in (many of which were immediately spoken for) and I put one on hold. They kept them in their own system (no low level copper or hypo) and acclimated them to frozen foods and our local time. Last night I very slowly acclimated her to my QT in a dark room and released her in to a 6in diameter tupperware with about 3-4in of sand. Pointed her at it and in she went. She didn't come out this morning when I turned on the lights and fed, but the store usually didn't open until 8-9 and I leave for work earlier than that so I am not worried. She ate right in front of me before I brought her home so she should be fine hiding for awhile if she wants. She has a couple friends in QT but she isn't to small and there hasn't been much aggression.

I got to spend all last night like a nervous nellie getting her settled and now I just can't wait to see her out and about! I hope all goes well as this is a fish I have wanted for awhile!

That's awesome! I remember when I got my blue star leopard a month or so ago. Every morning before work I'd go check on him and the midas in the qt tank hoping nothing bad happened. I too was happy that I found one that would eat frozen food. Very pretty and active fish for sure, god luck!

yay for you! she'll come out eventually. my yellow coris wrasse was always up early while in qt. when i put him in my dt, he hid for 2 months!

She was out yesterday and eating! Making new friends in QT as well. I just posted another thread since she had a bit of a panic episode trying to find her sand last night. I was worried about her banging against the bottom glass so I "guided her" with a net. She was pretty relaxed about that luckily. Just sort of swam where I wanted her to and dove in.

Hopefully she figures it out tonight.

Do you have the lights on still when she tries t retire for the night? If you don't maybe put the light on a timer. Make sure it's on a bit longer at night. Mine would go to sleep in the sand when her clock told her to but the light were still on.

No she was out and about when I turned them off. I was trying to adjust her to my DT's schedule. Her fellow QT members don't necessarily go to sleep at lights out though.
