That tang thread got me...vid of my fish

man that clown tang is a thing of beauty.

how big was the CT when you got it?

can you give a estimate of how big long you had the emp and how much it has grown?
does the emperor bother any of the other fish?

thanks for sharing...

Nice, I really like the clown tang.

They sure do grow fast, I purchased mine at 1.5" and it's already about 3", and nice and fat, it used to be dwarfed by the powder blue in the tank but it's already easily as long and just needs a little more height to the body and it will outmass it.

At the rate it's growing, it will be the biggest fish in the tank in just a couple months.

Thanks, the clown tang has maybe grown a inch since I got it 3 years ago. The emp I've had for about 3.5 years and it was about 4" when I got it, now is about 8" I would guess. It doesn't bother anyone. It likes its cave and comes out when it is time to eat. It and my 7.5" blueface don't like to be around each other except time to eat, with the blueface being the leader. I've had it for 4.5 years and it was 3" and sickly when I got it.

Tank is 8' 240 gallon.

Recty, I wonder if it will hit a 4" wall in the home tank....I haven't owned a smaller one for long enough to find out.

I can't say about a clown tang but other Acanthurus I've owned greatly benefit from 3-4 feedings a day. Mine have always seemed to grow like weeds.

I really like your aquascape. How do you like the bare bottom? I was considering doing the same but my fish always seem to like to pick at and play with the sand.

The lieutenant tang I got in at about 4" and it's already getting real close to 6" and that was also about 3 months ago. It's thick too.

Based off that tang's growth rate, and the obvious fast growth rate of my clown, I'd bet it's going to quickly pass the 4" mark.

I feed a LOT. A LOT. 4 times a day autofeeding pellets/flakes and then I feed mysis from time to time and about a half sheet of nori every other day. I think that helps with growth for sure, I try to make sure they are getting something close to what they would be getting in the wild as far as amount of food goes, although it's hard to replicate and keep the water anywhere near sanitary.

my emp juvie is easily outgrowing my blueface. i think mostly b/c the emp juvie gets 2 extra feedings a day b/c he eats pellets and the BF doesnt.

i feed PE mysis 2x a day.

The clown trigger died just a month or so shy of 5 years in my care. Then my queen angel of 3 years died as well. Queen trigger is happy and healthy in my 40 breeder while the new fish settles in. Yeah, I had a bit of bad fish luck hit quick and then stopped. The hardiest fish died while the supposed 'fragile' fish like the flame angel, pbt and clown tang thrived.

Those fish are so gorgeous and the rockwork is really well done. Kudos to the OP. That said, I cannot get used to the fowlr look, especially barebottom.

that clown tang really does looks stunning. i have a totally new appreciation for CT's now.

i dont think i've ever seen them at my LFS's and this is the 1st video i've seen of one.

nice to see the CT and PBT being able to co-exist for so long without problems.

MrTuskfish, I just stacked and balanced them. I put them down near the center of the tank, about 60/40 with a little more space towards the front.

Thanks GX, I've always had good luck with keeping clown tangs and powder blues alive and healthy. I think clowns look better than sohals, but like that orange on the sohal. The clowns have their fair share of orange on their little lower fins.

Great fish! But I don't trust Clown tangs, especially not with that nice little Regal in there. Keep an eye on him!
Seems like the P. navarchus is the king of the Angels in the OPs tank. Interesting, I'd of thought the Emperor would be.

Beautiful tangs! I have a clown tang right now and used to have a powder blue. You've done amazing with both!
