i am loving how your setup is comming along looks like you really planed it out before diving in keep up the good work:thumbsup:

lol calm down ohioreefer! Pics will be up tonight! lol

Rivenjim and NHMarine, thank you. We did a ton of pre planning clear up to the point of getting a generator. I have to give my husband most of the credit. He really thought things out and made sure all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed! The 55 and 125 look very different. The 55 was packed full and the 125 looks less cramped. I enjoy fish as much as coral so the 125 will have plenty of roomo for the fish. My Yellow Tang and Hippo Tang LOVE it! I knew the 55 was too small for them, but we raised them from babies, with the intent that we would upgrade as they grew. We may get a Powder Brown Tang and that will be it for the large fish additions. Still toying with a small schooling fish. I have 3 chromis that I moved from the 55 to a 20 for right now. I'm not sure if I want to go with a school of chromis or alleni damsels. The latter really look sharp! Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Pictures on the way :)

Ok here we go... Saturday night we added 1.5 inches of sugar fine aragonite to the bottom. I did not rinse it first. Then we covered that with garbage bags.

Sunday we had to delay our start a few hours because some of the water was still cooler than I wanted. While waiting, I placed dinner plates touching each other completely covering the garbage bags. we then began slowly pumping the water in. the plates started floating so I added bowls on top of the plates.

Aftet the water was at a level that I was happy with, we began taking the bowls off them plates. The garbage bags then gently floated up making it very easy to remove them.

I
then began tearing down the 55. I put shrooms, polyps etc. in one styrofoam cooler with a small amount of water. I had another styrofoam cooler holding all of the coral and anemones. I then began taking out the LR. I put the small pieces in a bucket and the larger pieces in two other styrofoam coolers. I left the really large pieces in the tank. My husband had made some rock stands out of acrylic. I put those in the tank and started with the plans I already had in my head.

I then started adding the rock. I swished each piece in a bucket of salt water before adding to the tank. My fist added rock!

Here is my fist added anemone GBT!

This is a see through tank so I had to think about both sided when I added things.

Here is the tank set up before lights were turned on.

I will be moving some things around as things open up a little more.

Obviously I have a lot of room for both new coral and new fish. I want to get some acro's. We aer thinnking about making an arch of acros or something down the road.

The acrylic doesn't look that good right now, but in time it should be covered in coraline and of course as I add things I will try to cover it more.

The fish and shrimp really seem to like the "boxes" to play in!

I will take some pics of the sump room in motion soon. Need to go for now. Thanks for all the interest!

Micki...

Wow that looks very good. If I may offer some suggestion, I would say add about 40lbs more of rock, that should cover those poeces of acrylic and really help give the tnak that finished look. I do think it looks very nice though.

it looks great.

have you given any thought to adding some wood to cover the view of the overflows......

AJP, I have thought about adding more show rock. I would want it to cover the acrylic more than anything. I have to admit I like the fish as much as I like the coral, so I may not add a ton of rock, because I want the fish to be in the open. Having a fully packed 55 tank makes me appreciate the look of fish in the open! :D

s0|, I forgot to add, we will be covering the over flow sections. My husband wanted to wait until the tank wa up and running to see how the over flow section was working. But yes that will definately be covered! :)

One other thing, the tights in the tank are filled with CC that was in my 55. I am using that to seed the tank. I will bremove those in a few weeks! :D

I like the open valley and swimming room very much. I just thought that about 40lbs would cover that acrylic up perfect and also just kind of finish the islands you built. But I can see you and I are on the same wave length. so i will stop harping.
