Micki, you have to explain how it works specifically so your fans can copy you. What keeps the carbon out of the exit tubing?
Here ya go!
Specifics: Items needed:
1. Chamber (whole house water filter unit)
2. 3/4 inch PVC pipe which fits where the typical filter unit sits.
3. 3/4x1 bushing reducer (PVC)
4. foam donut (can buy at Lowes or Home Depot, wet vac filter)
Steps to make:
1. Place PVC pipe on bushing reducer. Cut to length to fit where filter was.
2. drill 1/8 inch holes around the bottom of the PVC. We drilled 10 holes.
3. Cut 2 foam filter donuts to fit in the top of the chamber.
4. Hook the chamber up backwards as indicated on the top of the unit. A typical water filter would work coming in on the outside and feed through the center. This needs to run the opposite way. So, reverse the flow so it comes in the center pipe.
5. Hook the pipes to your water system and you are good to go! (of course rinse carbon well) Also start with low flow, gradually increasing to the desired flow rate. You can see the carbon rolling a bit. Adjust your flow accordingly.
