Sounds like you are on the right track. They make a nitrate sponge material. You might consider that if they don't come down. Kents nitrate sponge is one that comes to my mind. I forget if you have a sump or any kind of filtration? Do you have a skimmer?Originally posted by MaximusUSG
Micki, I have an update for you. I have removed the under gravel filter and the crushed coral. I have added a sand bed and converted my wet/dry into a make shift refug. I have about 5-6 inches of live sand in there too. I also have purchased some macro for the fug. Nitrates are still real high, :mad2: getting ready to do another 25 gallon water change tonight. Hoping to bring an end to the nitrate madness... Not sure what else to do about the nitrates.. Water changes and wait I suppose.. Trying to remain cool...![]()
Dark is my problem. A lot of them turn brown or a dark "blah" color. My MH schedule is 12:30-8:30 so they are on 8 hours now.Originally posted by gkarshens
Hey Micki, I saw your post about your corals coloring up in Marc's thread. Just thought I would pass on what I was just told by a friend here that has the prettiest corals I have ever seen. He said he reduced his MH lighting time from 10 hrs to 8 and all the colors darkened up. Just a thought. I 'm not sure what your lighting schedule is.

No you are fine, I just didn't remember seeing that anywhere. I run carbon 24/7 as well.

Maybe I skipped past it, but how is the water to your carbon chamber feed?
