You know ----- I come here out of interest because you are building my "dream tank". Then you show me all this great equipment that I can't seem to afford. And now you show me all these great pictures of your trip to Hawaii. "Come on Man - your killing me here".............JK........ great pics - I really enjoyed them. By the way ------ I think I've hit the "proverbial wall" about three times in the last 5 years.

Thanks glad you liked them. I'm sure you'll get your dream tank someday. I started with a small nano like everyone else. lol Nothing happens overnight, it just takes some time! :) Good luck with your future endeavors post some pics when you get it up. ;)

WOW great pictures. you took some amazing shots, the sunset shot was GREAT. I love all those photos. You should keep posting if you have more they are amazing man. Where did you go exactly? My trip to Hawaii wasn't nearly as cool as yours lol!

Appreciate it, yeah I have a lot more photos I'll post down the road! I went to Oahu and stayed at the Tapa Tower in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The views were really breathtaking because of how high up we were and the location was very scenic. There is an endless amount of activities to do around this area. We hiked up Diamond Head and visited hanauma bay, shark's cove, etc, etc. I'd recommend this to anyone going to Hawaii, although there are a bunch of very nice places to stay. My next trip will be to Maui, I heard there's a lot of entertainment and amazing snorkeling spots!

Nice build!!!

Those pictures from Oahu brings back good memories as I was just there last October with the family stayed in the rainbow tower the one in front of you!!!!

Be careful with that overflow man. I had one of the 300 gph and every 5 or 6 days i had to reset the siphon because too much air was getting in there. It never stopped in those 5 or 6 days, but i did it just in case. Well one time on the 3rd day it decided to fill up with air alot faster, i was at the casino overnight. I came home to a whole load of trouble.

Thanks Sweet ride!

I was checking out your tank, you have a really nice setup as well!

I'll be diving into the sps world. I'd like to eventually have a mixed reef with softies, lps, and sps.

I see your using brs 2 part as well. Do you have the solutions hooked up to dosing pumps and running them on a timer? I'm using this method and really enjoy the simplicity of it's use.

I'm probably going to be adding a good WC schedule with this tank. My previous setup wasn't desinged with an easy WC routine. I'm thinking a 20% every 2 wks should be sufficent.

How do you go about nutrient export?

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Yeah, I really like it there. There is so much fun activities to do around this area. What did you end up doing at your stay there? Gotta love the snorkeling..I'd love to go diving sometime!! :fish2: Hey, who knows maybe I'll bump into you sometime! lol

Thanks for the heads up man! I'm still tweaking some things. Hopefully all goes well. I was thinking about going with the g l a s s h o l e s, but heard they are somewhat noisy and you have to put some sort of material in there to quiet them down. I'm not a believe of putting thing in the overflow. lol Also, I didn't want to risk cracking my 180. :worried2:

In order to prevent overflowing the dt I'll be incorporating a divider for the return pump section, this way if the siphon ever breaks the little amount of water pumped up will stay in the tank.

mine had that to section in the sump, but i also had a freshly filled ATO set up that held 15 gallons of water. and that 15 gallons was in my dinning room below!

Wow, I never really thought about that one. :eek1: I couldn't imagine that happening! The worst part is you were at the casino and had to come home to that..did you end up winning anything? That would probably help sooth the pain. :smokin: thanks for the sharing your experience.

I wonder if there is a way to automate the auto top off to shut off in a case like this. Could I place an auto shut off connected to my auto top off and place that in the dt?

Actually at the time I lived at home upstairs an came home to lots of yelling from my parents and was told to take it down, they spent much of the night cleaning. And no I didnt win much!

I had a shutoff in the ato reservoir so I'f it ran dry it wouldn't run, I assume u could do the same in the tank if it got to high. It would have to be placed high, possibly mounted on the hood so that it hangs just high enough so that it is above your normal water line.
