the 210gallon upgrade thread

Hi Melev as you can see we removed the center baffles thansk for the suggestion, great idea. Hoping to finish plumbing by this weekend.

left and right power bars installed tonight also. Plugs will come in from back and switches in front underneath the stand. Bulk heads pvc will clear switches we checked.

I'm a little concerned about a couple of things.

Back to your sump - I know you wish I'd just give it my seal of approval. The return section looks very small. Tell me that you've got an automatic top off system planned and then I can let it drop. :)

The DJ power strip is really in a bad spot. The bulkheads in front of the buttons isn't a big deal, as they are more than likely not going to leak if all goes well. They plumbing will block your access and view of a couple of buttons. What worries me most is that all the outlets are facing the back wall and if water squirts, pours, or drips out the back of the tank it will hit that area for sure. I'd rather have it inside the stand up high, where falling water can't accidentally hit it.

Someone in our club just had a small tank fire because their electrical was in an area where saltwater got in way too easily.

Other than that, the tank looks great. Nice and clean and boy did you luck out on getting enough space to open that canopy. Any closer and you'd be up a creek. Or have a damaged ceiling. ;)

yes we have an auto top off. i cant think of any other spot to put the power centers are you sure there its going to to be that big of a problem?

Can you tell me that you will never drop, squirt, splash or spill water over the back edge of the tank? EVER?

You can create some method to secure them to the top of the stand inside where water can't land on it via gravity.

Auto Top off - good to know.

i no i can say this for my uncle but i cant imagine him having to top all that off every day lol. we will have to see what eles we can do about the djs

got a lot of plumbing done yesterday and re leveled the tank. we are going to finish up the plumbing tomorrow morning and then possibly transfer the tank

You plan to lay it on top of the DJ, right? I would make sure it is large enough to cover the plugs fully, and hang over on the ends at least 1". Let it drip down without ever making contact with the metal or plugs.

we are going to have it hang about an inch over each side and go completely over the back to the wall on the side where the plugs are if you can understand that

all plumbing went well. NO LEAKS. Thank god. I know that the switches seem to be blocked by the plumbing , but it really was no problrem. Plenty of room to turn on and off, and I always make 1 and 2 postions my protein skimmer and return pump. The auto top off went well in return section of sump, just had to adjust the fill height because the sump holds more water, tested works great.

I can't wait to see how it works out.

I think your drains into the left side of the sump are too low. When the water can't flow out easily, burping occurs in the plumbing & overflow boxes. Normally I suggest keeping it just barely submerged to 1" under water.
