Hey all-
after cycling 25lb of live rock for the last 8 weeks-
i Finally have the 60g cube up and running. (thanks Jordan!, you can see his original build here- http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2220908&highlight=60g
I picked up two WP-25’s, and LOVE them (thanks for the group buy Steven!) they are quiet and push tons of water. i have mine running on else at 100%
I also scored a sweet (barely used) tunze 9006 skimmer, rated for 200G (thanks Jeff!) this skimmer is SUPER quiet and already pulling gunk after a day.
Got the AC jr and DC8 from borchers (thanks shaun!) still programming and setting it up, hopefully be running by the end of the week
A little ¼” screen for free from Poriferan, as I’m going to screen the rear/overflow so my wrasse doesn’t jump. (thanks!)
Along with various corals, trading and other junk, I feel like this tank has been put together from a MARS storage locker!
Decided to go BB with this tank, with a ½ piece of starboard on the bottom. I figure I can always add sand later…we’ll see
anyway-
Whew, moved everything over yesterday and it was hot, hot, HOT. From start to finish it was about 6 hours. The 80g of saltwater I had was warm from sitting in the garage, thank goodness I had a 20lb bag of ice in the freezer.
There was routing cords, realizing I couldn’t get the hood on, re-routing cords (!!!). drilling larger holes and filling the tank.
We finally got to dipping (planaria) and scrubbing (HA and some BA) the rock. I figured if I was moving it, I might as well clean it! Of course there was some breakage, but nothing really bad. ( My buddy who was helping got quite a few frags!)
Thank heavens I have tile floor there, cause we were really getting sloppy near the end. Finally got the light turned on and I love the phoenix 14k mh. After having leds for so long, I forgot how nice mh looks…
I love this tank already, it really is a beautiful piece of furniture. Even my wife approves and says it is “pretty”. For those of you who have met her, you know she can be a little “prickly” when it comes to my fishtank hobby. :uhoh2:
Still have to move my 50+ ricordia and a couple monti’s from the back wall of the 29g. I also am having a heck of a time catching my coris wrasse, that little dude is FAST! Gonna try to get some of that done tonight.
Also have to re-route cords (3rd time!), remove lower rear brace from hood (you were right-I should have left it off, Jordan!) and put everything back.
There is also the usual rock work that needs to be tidied up, and i want to add height to the arch. ~:hmm5:also gonna need to do a lot of glueing down corals~
Sorry for the pics, cell phone and all… really looks better than that. I do need to get some night pics, sorry for the reflections!
the last one is the “wasteland” of my old biocube after the move.
