I love my vectra
Nice pump! It's rumored to be basically the same pump as the ecotech vectra pump.
Yup that's what I heard as well. One of the reasons I went with this pump is that the inlet is 2"and outlet is 1.5",seems more the standard. The only problem that I am thinking about is that it is not controller (Apex) controllable, this is going on a closed loop and I wanted to lower the flow at night, probably have to do it manually for a few months, although by the time I get this thing up and running, hopefully my bank balance will have recovered from the shock and I will put in another pump.
Got a lot of plumbing done in the past few days as business has been dead.It is amazing that when pipes are just roughed in they fit perfectly, put glue on them and it all turns to hell, does not matter how careful you are:hammer: Will post some pics over the weekend.
Can I ask why you want to lower the flow at night? I have never heard of or thought of doing this. Are there any gains to doing this?
Omg..... so the front panel just came off? [emoji22] [emoji22] [emoji22] [emoji22] [emoji22] [emoji22]It is about one week short of 2 years since disaster struck. This is of course a whole other story.
I just took delivery of a new custom built tank from AGE (Acrylic and Glass Exhibits) out of Garland Texas.
First off it is an awesome tank well built and very nicely put together. Doing business with them was effortless and an absolute pleasure. The tank was shipped to California where I had to pick it up, as too big for a home delivery. I arranged to pick it up on a Friday and had a bunch of guys from the club (SCMAS) come over on the Saturday to help get it into the house.
A huge thanks to the people that came to help as well as the guys who kindly lent me their professional glass suction cups.
Tank was well crated in a really heavy duty pallet structure. The truck was about two inches higher than the stand and after lifting it off of the pallet onto the truck bed it was really not difficult to get it onto the stand. The tank is really heavy as it is 96"x36"x30", 450 gallons of ¾" Starfire glass and a 1" PVC base. The steel stand was mounted and zip tied to a few furniture dollies and was taken into the house and set in place with really very little effort.
Now of course the fun begins....plumbing,new pumps,Oceans Motion and so it goes.
I hope I as well as those who are going to follow (or is that wishful thinking) will find this useful

The ocean usually calms a little at times, this is of course a generalization, when exactly to lower the flow will still have to be worked out.I figured since we are trying to simulate the ocean it might be a good idea to slow the flow a little. Now whether this will be of any benefit that is still to be determined.
The trims are stainless, they are coated, there is always a possibility of rusting but the coating looks fairly thick so unless the coating is scratched exposing bare metal I am sure it will be some time before I see it.Nice tank. The top and bottom trims, are they made of stainless steel?
If so, how long would the rim last being so close to saltwater before they rust?
Thanks
I ordered some of that marco 400 what is it like working with it
