the anemone who ate everything!

I have a condylactis anemone and so far it has eaten a clown goby, a tiny yellow boxfish, and an ocellaris clownfish. I feed it a combo of frozen brine shrimp a few times a week and algae pellets. Any suggestions on what I can feed it and how often to get it to stop eating my fish? Thanks.

i dont see it posible that it ate a live ocellaris, it may have been eaten by something else or possibly dead behind your LR or in your overflow if you have one, but not in the belly of the anemone.
i feed my PBTA 3" silverside every week. when i first bought it, it was no bigger than my palm. almost 4 years later its appx. 16" in diameter.

Condys are known fish eaters and do not host in the ocean so it very we'll may have eaten the clown.

If you want it to stop eating the fish i would suggest removing the fish or removing the anemone.

Condy's have been know to eat clown fish. You can't really feed him to keep him from eating your fish. In a 29 gallon tank it's probably not safe to keep fish with a Condy.

Condylactis anemones aren't natural hosts of fish, so they'll try to eat whatever they can catch. Though my friend's tomato clown does host a condy, but I think tomatoes are about the only clowns that can tolerate the condy's sting. You should trade it for a BTA if your tank has the correct lighting and is mature enough. Also try feeding silversides and mysid shrimp.

Thanks for your help. It did indeed eat all 3 of the fish I listed. They went missing from the tank and aren't anywhere. I took the whole thing apart looking for them and unless a tiny hermit crab or a snail decided to become a carnivore that actively hunts prey, it was the anemone. I cannot trade it in, unfortunately, since i bought it online and I don't want a strictly invert tank so I guess I'll just get bigger, cheaper fish that hopefully won't go near it and will try feeding it more. Its a gorgeous anemone. It seems to only eat the fish that look sick (if they are or not I'm not sure) or are really tiny. I've only seen it actively attack a fish once, when I put in a small filefish that thought it was grass... big mistake on the filefish's part. Thanks again for all your help.

You can find a local fish store and trade it in there when it gets too big. They don't really care where you got it from.
You could also try getting a tomato clown, but they will be very territorial in such a small tank.
I wouldn't buy any fish that are too big, cause they will be over crowded.

Hey its Jacob,

I think if you want to trade it Aquaria on Texar should do some sort of trade deal. Dave is really nice that is where i got my GBTA and he has already told be to bring in my GBTA clone for a trade, he get lots of stuff from people in the area. The condys are really cool but i hate to give it those expensive snacks :(.
