The Austrian Drop Off taken over by Acroporas

Too much posting going on...please get with the program and post some tank pics with the tank already running.

:lolspin:

man trust me i would but it is still to cloudy to see what i build... but it´s getting clearer... first test acans are in and looking good!

Cheers

Funny that 2 days ago I've just bought a AF probiotic salt 22kg bucket to try that kind of salt but next Water change it's 2 weeks from now. Let's keep on talking about this cloudiness...

I never had cloudy water with probiotic reef salt.
Must be his secret ingredients.
Or what he's smoking instead of working on the tank...

i dont think this comes from the salt...
i used those new Bactoballs from fauna marin, then Bio S from AF, probiotic reefsalt and the RealReefRocks also have some bacteria on them so when this all comes together you get cloudy water :lolspin:

haha yes Matt... to your information i was working my *** off since 26th of november for this tank :lolspin:

hope it´s getting clearer today...

Cheers

Flo being from Austria and all, perhaps the new system will be a terrarium for platypus or wallabies or some such.

[bio runs for cover...]

I still vote teeny sailfish.

Look how cute these little sworded jerks are!!!

Shut up, and take my money!

But seriously, I'm wondering if that type of science would ever get into this hobby. Imagine dwarf yellow tangs that top out at 2" or less. Now that breeding SW fish is becoming more possible, we have hybrids coming out (which is scoffed at by most of the FW community, at least with big cichlids and such).

Not sure we'll ever get that 3" sailfish, but a 3" yellow tang... That might just happen in my lifetime.

I wish I had your energy!
Can't wait to see it.
haha but trust me i am tired ^^

hope you are studying the right thing so maybe you will bring us the dwarf sailfish... :celeb1:

so you guys have been so patient with me and so it´s time for the first quick look of what i did to my tank...

but first a quick look at most of my acans on vacation in a friends tank (which i build^^)

i have no idea where i am going to put them all :lolspin:

and finally the tank, still a bit cloudy but i will take some detailed shots this week

then i will list all the changes i did!!

now i go into hiding!!!

I was not patient, you take that back! lol.. That second pic with the green acan and electric blue outline? Love that piece, great colors on it. I typically shy away from most green corals, as there's just far too many greens and reds out there. That deep electric blue plays really well that it's particular shade of green though, definitely a very nice piece.

thanks mate!

surprised you had nothing to say to the tank... omg I let you down :D

Yes! He's back!!!!
Like the BB and almost minimalist look.
If you allow I would suggest to change the big rock just on top of the drop off for a smaller. Having that boulder there looks like splitting the tank.

and that´s the thing... i just looks like a boulder... actually those are two seperated stones... if the water is clear tonight i will make detailed pictures!

Hi Flo,

Have you considered giving all your acans to your friend on a permanent loan basis and stock your tank with 100% Acro instead? Acans will block the flow on the tank floor and will be distraction to Acro lovers. Just saying... :lolspin::twitch:

i know that my friend would take them without even hasitating... but i love them... look at them they look amazing!

but yes you are right.. the block the flow and the few :lolspin:

If you could make a small Acrylic stand for the Acans to keep them like 1/4" off the bottom they wouldn't wreck the flow. It might be a challenge, but if done properly you can make it unnoticeable.

That said, I suck at multi-tasking! And I like the scape so far, lots of room for SPS to branch out and take over. Almost like there's a bunch of little islands around there.

haha...

so since some guys here are waiting for better quality pictures here we go:

The Austrian Drop-off Tank 2.0

new sump area! love it but not finished

fish

Corals

so why did i restart my tank?
  1. Bubble alge taking over all the stones in the shallow area
  2. some sort of Clavularia growing more and more
  3. swinging water parameters since the use of Chemiclean
  4. the tank wasn´t perfect level which got fixed
  5. fixing the flow in the drop-off area
  6. getting rid of all the smaller pests like worms and Asterina

so on 26th of November the tank got torn apart and i got rid of all the stones and rest of the sand. after that the tank and all the equipment got cleaned very precisely...
but i´ve made some videos showing what we did. i will post those in just a few days!

so if you have any questions just let me know.

and i really want your opinion on the new scape!!

Cheers, Flo

The end shot looks a little creepy, like a stone monster pulling over the edge. Hey, you really wanted to know! :D I like it, should look good with some corals in it.
