The Babies Are Here!!!!

Very Very Very Cool! I think breeding fish for our hobby is one of the coolest and environmentally friendly things we can do. I hope more and more people try to actually raise the animals that breed in their tanks. I would love a few if and when you decide to sell them. :)

wow, THAT IS SOOO COOL! Looks like they have doubled or more in size already!

Well, they haven't doubled, but they have grown some. I think the camera is just closer. However, they are looking more like their parents and their fins are starting to curve instead of just looking like sticks. :D They are also getting little personalities if that's even possible. Some will venture out more and others will stay close to the Kenya Tree. Some will pick on others while they are eating, wanting to grab every last bite and not share. It's definiltey fun to see these little Bangaiis grow.

Well, I certainly can't keep all of them. My mated pair in my DT would never forgive me if I tossed them in there. So when it comes time to let the little buggers go, in about 4 months or so. I will be putting the word out, so keep your eyes open, you may see a "Bangaiis for Sale" thread in the future. I'll put you on my waiting list though. :D

 Yes, you are on the list. I'm going by the date of when someone has shown interest. When the Bangaiis are ready to go, I will start contacting those on the list.

You know, I was talking with my husband the other day and brought up this concern. I've been so worried about them dying. Now I have to think if all 30 survive I'm going to need to get a larger tank. :eek2: But for now I'm not going to think about that, and just concentrate on the next two weeks keeping them alive. After that hurdle has been cleared I need to buckle down and work on them eating frozen food, which they turned their noses up at this morning, again.

try mixing it together drop in table spoon of live and table spoon of frozen at the same time and see what happens my discus turn there noses up as well but this works for me most of the time.....somtimes they simply are not ready for frozen yet

Give me enough notice and I may be able to help you out with equipment and even a tank. The turn around with tanks and equipment for me is pretty good.

Update!!!

Update!!!

On day 13 it was rather a sad day here at the Bangaii Nursery. We lost 8 babies in one day!!! :( But that was to be expected though as I was warned by Frank that it's typical to lose a lot at the 10-14 day mark. I just didn't expect it to happen in one day. But I've only lost 2 since then and they are now 3 1/2 weeks old and I still have about 20 babies left. All looking good and starting to eat Cylopeeze now!! I'll be happy when I can stop hatching BBS. I will try and get some new pics up at the end of the week, to mark the 4 week mile-stone.

:bum: owning those cardinals when your a big time breeding don't forget us little poeple

 Yeah right, I have no idea what I'm doing. :D I'll be contacting those who want one (or two) when they are ready to go, as I won't be able to keep any of them (well....maybe one for my office Mini-reef tank).

Don't worry, after a year or 2 hatching daily BB becomes like having morning coffe. The day just won't be the same without it.

Hi did you just buy a pair not knowing they were mated, and if so how long till they mated and I am amazed that you got them to go this far honestly an astounding feat for you for sure you have to be grinning ear to ear. Thanks for sharing it was marvelous to see.
