The BB movement

I usually dont find too many bubbles being an issue with mine, its if you restrict air, it moves much more water, and overflows. (But mine is the multi, not the SL)

Oh I see what the confusion is. My skimmer is the TF1000 in-sump, it uses a seperate pump to feed water, and the Oceanrunner 2700 is just for air and recerc.

In mine if I did not restrict the air input the skimmer would overflow with no water running through it, if I ran as much water through it as I would like to (about 200GPH MFG reccomendation) I had to cut the air back by almost half.

With the old Rio that used to run this skimmer I did not have this problem, but with the new pump it really bugged me that I could not use my full capeability.

Mine came with the OR, and theres a ring that fits inside the intake of the pump, before the venturi. It limits the water, and the air sucked in by the pump. Seems like its just too much pump for the body. They werent designed for it I guess.

I think you are right, although it is the pump they currently reccomend. I think I could have got my TF to perform much better if I cut the 2 tubes that run up the body, and put a gate valve on them that emptys about 1/2 way up the body.

I am not going to hack it up though, I am going to put it on my 15 gallon as it is, it should be plenty for that tank.

Hmmm, I'm curious how you came to this conclusion?

I don't like when people pull the "I have blah blah years of experience" card. Like it means you think everyone should listen to you because you can conjure up a bigger number than them. Even though you conveniently add the "both methods work" line time and again, your comments to me regarding biodiversity and how you have more of it and this is ultimately desirable tells me that you swing a certain way. And that, my friend, I find somewhat hypocritical. The fact that you are rather proud of doing no (very little) water changes and this is somehow desirable....I could mention more, but if anyone's interested, they can read it themselves. Perhaps my perception, and whatever...it rubbed me the wrong way. You're right - bad medium for emotion.

And I wasn't intentionally avoiding your question. Yes, I do water changes. About 3-5% every 10-14 days.

I have no problem keeping the thread on subject...but sometimes feel the need to derail. Sorry.

did any of you check the title before posting in here? it saids "The BB movement" just kidding, i dont mind what you guys say in here as long as there is not fighting going on. on the subjects of skimmers i am getting a euroreef ES 5. what do you guys think about that? any critqueing is welcome. i intend to run it wet so i can be able to do small daily water changes which i feel are way more beneficial thatn huge water changes. lmk

I'm running a ES5-2 on a 65g w/ a 29g sump and it's kicking butt. Took a while to break in though. I was about to gut it to do the recirculating mod, but the skimmer kicked in and started doing some work. Almost as if it knew.
