The Big Controller Comparison Chart.

Controllers are a pretty risky business to get into, it takes a whole lot of time to test and debug these systems to the point were you feel confident that a $10,000 Aquarium won't die because your software locked up. So these things do take time. In the case of Aquatronica they test every new piece of hardware for 1 year before releasing it, that's why we are still waiting on the Leak Detectors, VHO Dimming and SMS module. They are all built and ready to go but the testing phase is still not complete.

The other good thing about controllers like the Aquatronica and Profilux and Elos is that that the companies seem to be very interested in updating their software and creating new hardware additions.

The SMS module isn't out for the Aquatronica? I could swear that my friend has it on his 180?

The Ethernet module is available and does SMS via Internet, but the real SMS module is still being certified.

RobbyG - It would be interesting for you to include a "Date released to the market" for each of the controllers as well as a "Date the company was created or began operating on".

I'm sure it would take a little bit of time to get truly accurate information, but you could maybe check incorporation dates on state websites to get a close to accurate idea.

Your thoughts?

Robby - Lastly, is there a anyway we can paypal you a bit of money to help offset the time and costs you've incurred while compiling and constantly updating information you have in the chart and the website?

I won't be sending much, but I would hope any little bit would help you buy a frag or two. I'm sure your chart is going to be saving me time and money in the long run as I try to decide which controller I'm going to purchase.

Thanks for the Generous offer, your the first :) It's not really all that expensive to host the Chart and it seems like a nice payback to RC for all the great help the forum has given me. So thank you for the offer but this one's on me

I will take a look into it, I agree that some people will want to know this info.

After researching the Dialyseas unit I decided not to include it in the comparison chart. It's really not a controller because it does not have the ability to turn On or Off any kind of plugs or plugbars. It's a really nice device but it's in another class of equipment altogether.

At the time I had so many units to work on I skipped the Aquastar because I was told it is a commercial unit and not really for the home market. I will take a look at it again in the future and see if I can add it.

I was just overwhelmed at the beginning :) I thought there might be 5 or 6 controllers on the market and the more I researched the more I found. I apologize for not including it, I will definitely try and get it in ASAP. Is it OK if I PM you Moonpod for some info if I cant find it all on the net?

Apologize? What for? Just asking a question. Sure feel free to PM, but Deltec Doug sells the stuff so prolly better to ask him like cost and what it comes with questions ya know?

http://www.aquariumcontrollers.com/BIOMATIX PREVIEW.htm

I will be adding a new controller to the Chart next week. This one is sure to surprise many people.

I had the option of Beta testing the Biomatix, but I wasnt ready for it a couple months ago. I have only had my water in my tank over a month now. Now im getting serious about looking for the right controller.

Im glad to see that you found another one. Cant wait to see what suprise you have up your sleeve.
