Ordered from Marine Solutions, they have a promotion going on for free shipping, not sure if that is still going on though.

I see that everybody is still happily buying these skimmers, myself included.
My Atman PH-2500 pump stopped working just about a month since I got it. It still starts if I get it good air blow in air tube.
So what is solution to fix that pump? I read Sedra 5000 impeller worked for someone. Is it going to work with that impeller as well as it did with stock one? Or will I need to mesh mod it? I guess it does not make much sense to get Via Aqua 2600 pump either since it will have the same problem.
Vendor is willing to "take a look at what they can do with pump", but I think shipping charges are going to be as much as new pump costs.

What do you guys think?

Take your pump totally apart and soak things in vinegar. Then make sure EVERYTHING is put back together properly.

I cleaned my pump for the first time a week ago and couldn't get it to restart to save me. Then I tore it all apart again and had messed up putting it together. Once it was assembled correctly, it started right up with no issues.

got mine in the mail today...was a bit tough to assemble the threaded plastic bolt that holds down the bubble cup...it could have been made slightly larger...otherwise nothing to remark on....great product!!!

I'll try soaking it in vinegar. The pump just did not start one day after I turned power off.

got my nac6 today so its official i am a member. looks good no issues with assembly not even with the bubble plate like many have had. hopefully ill be all set up and running this weekend.

Well I have had my first hiccup with this skimmer. The pump will not restart for me. I took the skimmer out to clean it and when I put it back together, no go. So I took it apart again and made sure I lined everything up and then tested the pump before it went back into the skimmer. The pump worked just fine. Put it all back together and then plug it in, no go again!

At that point I lost my patience and said to the hell with it. Not a good night for my skimmer to stop working. Planning a wedding and all is enough on my plate let alone trying to fix my pump.

I contacted Marine Solutions and Rob is going to help me more tomorrow. I will probably give the skimmer a little vinegar bath and try again. I just lost patience tonight with it.

It was running for 6 weeks without a single issue. It would restart every time and was pulling some good gunk out.

Now don't go and think that the pump is crappy and won't last. At this point I am attributing the restart issue to user error. It seems to me that when I put the impeller back in and lock it in with the nut it becomes too tight and the magnet won't spin. I will look into it more tomorrow when I have the chance.

Tivo, any thoughts?

Just an update:

The pump works again! It was user error like I suspected. I have to run to work right now but will update when I get there.

So here is what I had to do.

On the shaft there are 2 black rubber endcaps. The back endcap that goes into the pump wasn't seated all the way in. I thought it was but when I pulled everything apart again and really gave it a good shove, I felt it slide in even further. I suspect those that have restart issues may have the same issue I did.

Take the impeller off the shaft and make sure that the endcap is shoved all the way in. You will feel it kind of pull in a little and you will know it seated. Then when you put everything back together it should all fit correctly.

It is hard to explain in text but I will try. When you put the pump back together there are 3 parts. The impeller assembly, the o ring thing (sorry don't know a better name) and then the nut on the outside that holds it altogether. It should all fit nice and snug. If you have to apply a ton of pressure to get the o-ring to sit flat then something is wrong. It should sit in its' housing nice and flush with very little effort. Then when you put the screw-nut thing back on it will fit very nicely.

Hope that helps somebody.

Hey guys. Finally deciding to go with bubble magus for my skimmer. Just another NOOB question before I click the purchase button in the next few days. There is an option of voltage and the selections are 110 and 220v for the BM NAC6a. Is it a different electric outlet than our household outlets (just concerned because it says the product is export europe version NAC6a not NAC6). I know its a silly question and maybe its been asked before but please help. Thanks again in advance and hopefully soon I will be part of the Bubble magus club!

Also just want to check one more time... My sump area is only 9" 1/4 wide by 24". Another member stated that it fits into his sump area which is 9" wide.. Will i be running into any problems??

I got my BM NAC6 today and got it unpacked and my first impression was good. I started assembling it and felt that the written directions were not that great, had to rely upon the sketch map of all the parts to finally figure it out. I do have a question about a piece of acrylic ring size of 4" diameter that seems to be extra ?? Does anyone know what that is for ?
I gave it a quick warm water bath and then placed it in my sump and fired it up. No issues or noise whatsoever. The pump is producing nice foam and I ended up adjusting the dial to #2 setting to get the inside water level just above the neck of the skimmer.

Got my 180 Cone Skimmer the other day. OHH yea. This thing is dead silent. Then only thing I am hearing in my tank at all is the lighting fan. It is pulling chunks out of the water.
