OMG is all I have to say. This makes my ASM look like a big Turd! Glad my MSX200 is coming for my reef 90g. This is under my FOWLR. Started forming a THICK foam head immediately. Running it with a Rio-600. With head it makes it about 1.3x the tank volume an hour.

This is the pic of the old PS75 I've had for years since my 20 where it actually did ok. I had it sitting in the sump there since my other alternative skimmers where all in sump.

As you can see I put an air restrictor on it for now since I'll be leaving the house in a bit. I don't want it over flowing since I don't know the characteristics of the skimmer yet. I also opened the output all the way up as you can see from the water lvl for the same reason

Ok I did it. very slowly but I adjusted it so it's at where you said. I had to turn the air down a little but the bubbles are very fine so lets see. Thank you

Don't turn the air down , try to run it full open and find slowly the right water level adjustment... it will skim a lot better when the air valve full open but it's going to take you time to adjust the water level...

you can see in this picture the air valve close :

here you can see it full open and also the different on the foam...but as i said play with it till you find the right water level ...

What feed pumps are you guys using for the recric models?

On this one i used the MJ 1200

Are most of your skimmers in sump models?
I am interested in getting one of the bubble magus, but not sre if I want to get an in sump or external. I would like to try an in sump model, but my sump has an always changing water level.

The Bubble Magus that you saw was the BM160 Ricric but run in my sump since i don't have space out....

my current skimmer run Ricric in the sump to , i can fit under my stand 35" high so i don't have problem with that ....

Oh just to update I slowly was able to tune it to run with no restrictor at all. Lots more foam but it is still breaking in. It's producing, skimate though wet, for now. However I can already see it beginning to get into stride. Really excited to replicate your results mavgi. LOL makes me want to up the bio-load! Again I need to say that I love this skimmer.

I run my external as you can see for you that asked. I didn't have room in my sump and you can not beat this skimmer in performance and quality for the price. The closest external is the deltec it's modeled after for $700. Also I just LOVE opening up the doors to my stand just to stare at it :)

How are you guys getting so much skim? I have the 100 and I don't get that coffee colored yuck that other people are getting.

eagleONE- I think with the in sump models an air restrictor on the venturi line will help.

Mavgi/Chevegan- I took my air restrictor off as suggested, and after almost a week it is not making a thick foam head, but one with huge (1.5") bubbles in it. I still get skimmate, but just really wet/watery.

I think even with the bubble plate the turbulence is high. But with your recirc models there is less turbulence and more room for water to calm down. Maybe the restrictor is only needed on in sump models??????

Ok, I just finally removed my Octopus NW110 and put in a new BM100.
So far it's a lot louder than the NW110, but there seems to be a lot denser column of small bubbles:

I'm hoping it will break in and the noise will lessen.
Also hoping I don't have any trouble with the Atman pump...

If you look on the previews page on my pictures on the first picture you will see on the funnel that the water level high and on the second picture you will see in the funnel more bubble then water .

to get more dry skim you need to low little bit the water level (not to much) it's need to be fine tune and it's take sometime to adjust the right water level but in the end you will get the same result .

I see what our saying. Just put the water level lower. Thats what I was doing but I wasn't getting any skimmate. I put the valve back on and have it tuned to skim the same amount of sludge as it was pulling out water. I am not touching it again....lol. This thing has been working great, its blowing away the old deltec mc500 that I had.

yes they did excellent pin wheel impeller but i told to Chris to tell them to increase the neck diameter since on 110 volt and different hertz those pump pull more air and can handle on 3-3.5" neck diameter.
