I'm interested in getting a BM160 here, any owners out there that can attest to their quality and durability?

I just bought one of the new BM 160's from Nuocean, it has the wider 3.5" neck. It seems to be high quality, and so far so good.
I believe the one's on EBay are actually from 'Fish Street', which ships out of Hong Kong. So if you are in the USA, you'll be better off ordering from Nuocean due to shipping.

you should be fine. i ran a japanese iwaki 50 hz pump for years on an inverter, no problems, except a burned fuse one tim. dont get a cheapie, buy one thats twice the rating your looking for, should be fine. it'll run you about 35 bux for a nice inverter.

I'm running an etss reef devil at the moment. It's skimming fairly well at the moment, but a very tempermental skimmer.
I have owned a euro-reef rs model, ASM, Bermuda, and now the etss. The thing that gets me with most skimmers is the price. I could never make myself pay $500 - $1000 for a piece of plastic.

I got my BM100 V2 today. It's up and running in my tank for the last 4 hours.
I have to say the skimmer is very well built and makes very small bubbles. I think even smaller that the Euro reef that I owned. The impeller has more pins and looks a little better designed than the ER. The terbulance inside the skimmer is much less than the ER as well.
I'll keep updating as the skimmer breaks in and maybe a few pictures...... I like it so far. Hopefully the restart issue has been fixed with the V2... The pump is nice and quiet, I think noise was a problem with some of the V1's.

the 100 and 160 has the pump, internal to the body.
the 150 is external mounted.
i have been running the BM 160 since september, not a single problem.
regarding taking the pump out, its really simple 4 nylon threaded screws. you can take skimmer out, and service really quickly.
i used to be in plastics business, have to say, quite robust design, and excellent fit and finish.
mines came with the needle wheel, have not tried mesh mod, or other types of impellers. i heard rumors, there was another style available.

BM160 has the pump outside of the body, the 150 is the other skimmer with the pump in the body but it's an Aquabee instead of Atman.

Any of the models with the pump outside of the body are going to be easier to maintain because it's easier to get the pump off. The two models with the pump internal should be considered when your sump space is limited.

no. the BM-100 would be an excellent choice for a 72 BF. i ran a pm ES100 on a 72 BF and it was a PITA to work on, as i had 1/8th of an inch for clearance. performance wise, i would say a BM-100 would blow the doors of it, and it is very compact, easy to set and use. my skimmer go's nuts, pulls out all kinds of stuff. if you have the extra money, get the 150, in case you upgrade later.
