fliger it takes me 10 minutes to dial my wave in in my 50g i cant imagine trying on a 210 with 4 pumps it would be much more difficult

does your elos tank have corner or center overflow?

Don't understand why you think it would take longer with more pumps. As long as they are syc'd or anti-sync'd should be the same.

I've been fiddling with my tank, 8' X 30" X 30" with a coast to coast overflow. I first tried one pump pulsed and got a little wave, not much but motion and one heck of a snow storm. I'm working with 2 on opposite ends anti-sync'd at the moment and am generating one about 3/4" from trough to peak. All my rockwork is on pillars and runs down the middle of the tank so I have that working against me too.

Tonight I'll move both to the same end and see if I can do any better with them sync'd.

Just wanted to give kudos to Dave at Icecap too as I was having a few issues with all my pumps and sent them to icecap for refurbishment before putting on the new WWD's. They're running better now than they did brand new! :D

The overflow question has me wondering. I feed my skimmer directly off my overflow. If I add waves and this causes surges down the piping will this affect skimmer performance? Not talking about skimming top 1" vs. 3 ". Just the surge of water then no water as the wave propogates down the tank.

Yeah I'll try later tonight. I'll keep fiddling with it - I have them on anti-sync, 100% flow, about 8" below the water line. I'm really not concerned with the wave appearance, but I like the idea of rocking to keep detritus suspended. I think the way the new Profilux controllers are getting the Tunzes to create such incredible waves is that it pulses incrementally upward.

I doubt I'll have time to get the other two online this week, so I have some time to fiddle. I also have a Profilux controller - I'd like to use two Vortechs and two Tunzes, one set for waves, the other set for flow. Not sure which will be best for which application. But I'm leaning towards the VT's for flow since I like the wide flow.

I took one to my LFS this afternoon and put it on their 180 display, 6' long and had a 1 1/2" wave rockin it in a couple of minutes. He was very impressed a bit pricey for his clientel though.

Maybe he needs better clientel?

He's got ME...how much better can it get? :D

Let's just say it's not in the best part of town anymore. He's been there for 35 years.

Just to let you guys/gals know that I'm very satisfied with the new drivers. At the begining one of the pumps had an anoying sound but Dave from Ecotech suggested to change wet side which I did and they are now both running smoothly.

So the swap did work for you, glad alls quiet now. Its really hard to explain why this sometimes happens. I had 2 running yesterday on test and could not get one of them to quiet down. I swapped both wet sides around and both then were dead silent.

How did that work out for you ?

Haven't done that yet. I put both of them exactly in the middle on each side anti-syn and messed with them for over an hour. I can get 2 different frequency waves but neither one is very big at all. I think it has alot to do with my rock structure as I have six pillars that are staggered running down the center and I think that's absorbing alot of the wave energy.

From reading other folks it seems opposite ends anti--synced is the way to go. I'll probably wind up going with the reef crest with one master and 3 slaves, 2 anti-sync'd on the rear and 2 syncd on the sides. That should give me some pretty chaotic flow. I am very happy with the particle suspension and the fact that my sandbed is staying put.

Just a quick shipping update. We had more drivers arrive this afternoon and they are all in transit to those on the list in order of when they contacted us. More will be here Monday or Tuesday of this coming week and we will be able to fill more orders.

No kidding. I have two on opposite ends (sides?) of my 92 gallon corner, and when I run them at high speed, in Reef Crest mode/anti-sync, I can actually create a mini-tornado on my sand bed. It's hilarious. I'm going to try and recreate it and get a video of it.
