BTW, the current Gauntlet score - UCLA 20, U$C 5

Kevin

LOL Kevin. Were you ever a gangbanger? Haha crossing out the S like that is sad man...:(

USC basketball and UCLA basketball believe it or not will be more interesting!

They all have new faces and if you havent seen any playing before their college games I would in fact say there will be no underdogs and that they are evenly matched. Should be more interesting than this football game. Both teams have vets coming back and new faces that have demoralized your avg highschool basketball player in these already strong lineups.

Nick Young, Aaron Aflalo 2 monster scoring machines, wich no team will have an answer for. I cant wait!!!

Sam, there is a HUGE difference and it's called COACHING!!!

Yes, Pretty Boy Floyd can recruit, but can he coach??? NBA experience is just that, experience. Does not make him a good coach. If he was, he would still be in the NBA.

Coach Howland took a team of good players to the championship game. Now he's got more great players coming in that buys into his system. Now that's scary.

Both Young and Afflalo can score lots of points, there is no doubt about that. But Afflalo actually plays defense. How many times has he shut down the opposing teams best scorers? That the mark of a complete player.

You USC fans talk more crap then any other fans I know

Hmmmm, kinda like what you're doing in this thread? ucla won fair and square and it was a very disappointing loss for USC. But looking back at the season, the Trojans still accomplished a great deal. Going into the season, my expectations were competing for the Rose Bowl or other BCS game, and to think they were one game away from the championship game is amazing.

btw, the last time ucla played USC in basketball, the Trojans won ;)

HD Buttercup (furniture store in Culver City/LA) had a promotion in which any furniture you bought before the game would be free if ucla won. I wonder how much money they lost!

Kenny we had a crappy coach who was a volunteer coach at our HS. We went to 3 city champ games and won 1 over a 4 year period.

I dont think coaching is what makes a baskeball team. Its more like if everyone has the chemistry and is on the same page. No big egos, all with a task to play basketball and determination to win. Our coachtaught very basic things...like what you would see in a recreational team. The guys on the team just loved to play and win at all costs.

Of course many can say its the coach, but then again look at the line ups some if these coaches have had in the years. Phil Jackson, Coach K. Would they be the icons if they were given a completley different lineup? Maybe? Or was it the luck of having a great talented group of guys who loved to win basketball games througout(sp?) the years of great recruiting?

Then again having an experienced coach and the above mentioned...I guess those are the dynasty teams that win consecutive championships in sports;)

Basketball is a chemistry sport. You have 5 guys one the court who have to constantly work with each other to keep each other satisfied. There are no shot callers as oppose a QB would do. And there arent any dead plays like in football when its a run play and a wide reciever knows he wont be in on a certain play and wont even take off on a hike.

These are debatable topics wich I love to talk and there isnt a right way of determining this...sports are sports...thats why guys love this we love to argue, on how, who is the best...Aint it the best!!!!!:D

Hmmm, UCLA won 8 in a row (1991-1998). U$C won 7 in a row. My "8 Straight" T-shirt still stands. :D

And yes, we are going to the Emerald Bowl.

Oh, and UCLA is very, very young. Should make next year even more interesting.

Now that is done, anyone wanna bet on who will win in basketball? :D

Kevin

While I will credit the Bruins for playing a great defensive game, (offense still bad) and give them kudos for the win, let's get real. They were up, SC was looking ahead.

I'd like for the rivalry to mean something again, because it hasn't for awhile.

And... please.... any UCLA fan that talks of the streak? That's basically what Bruin fans are all about..... beating SC and nothing else, which is what seperates the two schools when it comes to football.

SC's 7 game streak had an average margin of victory of, oh, I don't know, a hundred, and during that time?
4 straight BCS games, 3 vicotories. One BCS National Title, one AP Title, (split.) THREE Heisman winnners.

UCLA's streak? Rose Bowl win? No. Title? No. Heisman? No. Anything to speak of really? Uh... not so much.

While I congratulate UCLA whole heartedly, please, when it comes to football, know where you really stand.....

Be sure you inclued the fact that those are including WOMEN's sports, (including softball, where SC doesn't even have a team, can't tell you why...)

If you go by men's only? Uh... SC wins by quite a bit.

I was at the game......great game to be at! In fact I havent missed a rivalry game in 10 years....yeah, i was a fan when SC sucked.

i am sick of always hearing the losing teams making excuses or still talking trash even though they lost. AND im sick of taunting fans that only have to say that the other team sucks or stuff like "usc fans are losers" or "ucla fans are babys". everyone talks smack generalizing fans as if they are all the same......for those go fly a kite. there are way too many banwaggoners representing SC in the wrong way. and too many NEW ucla fans since they beat SC representing ucla in the wrong way....for those go buy your DUCKS jerseys...they are gonna go far this year....and dont forget your L.T chargers jersey....

EVERY TEAM will have good fans AND bad fans....I only wished that the good fans would open their mouths.....SC is going to the rose bowl! great.....but it sucks......SC should be playing in the fiesta bowl...so in that i am dissappointed.....but hey...you cant go every year....three is alot.

UCLA WON...and they have bragging rights for the rest of the year. they ruined SC's chance at a national championship. congratulations.....

Sound like the typical SC fan.........................Bruin fan states facts, SC fan come up w/ excuses..............

However based on your theory....................When was the last time SC won a basketball title?? A Pac-10 title?? Hell, the last time they were even invited to the tournament was 5 years ago & they lost in the first round to UNC-Wilmington (a powerhouse)...............Where's UCLA's basketball team??? #1 in the nation!!!!

I'm sure your comments above will also put you in the good graces of all the women in the world..............

LOL.............they can hang it next to thier 93 Kings jersey.....

Good points jj.................men should suck it up like men when thier team loses...............accept your defeat & walk away w/ some humility....................some of these fans sound like Tito Ortiz when The Iceman handed him his ***......

I'm married, I really don't care about being in good graces with the women of the world.

How am I a typical SC fan, and where did I make exuses? UCLA played a great game, deserves the win.

When did basketball come up? I'm talking football, and the "streaks."

You sound like a typical Bruin fan, not able to comprehend posts.
