The Farm

we don't use sponge power so haven't tested it, as for electro.... we are keeping the set up under wraps so to speak, but if your trialing it send me a pm and ill be happy to guide you...

Yeah, I use it sparingly but I'm certain it's just silicate, it doesn't do much other than result in more pineapple sponges in my sump, and diatoms on my glass, but I think my mangroves out-compete them.

I've sent you a PM. A more appropriate question I guess, what do you think of the palintest? I can't think of anything but Sarah Palin every time I say the name to myself. I'm very tempted with one, but I'm curious. How fast is test for elements such as K, Fe and I, as well as for cal/alk values? How hard is the test to carry out?

its pretty quick and has a digital readout the biggest pain is the individual reagents can be expensive

Hi Bibarassa.
Because most of people tend to believe their own ideas are more correct than other's ones, I think everybody should look for their answers. So try it Your own. Prepare one liter of new artificial seawater and then measure alk. Put new zeolite in it and measure kh at intervals. You'll find your answer. That's the way I usually proceed. You can do it with other tests too, as potassium for instance, but in that case it is more easy to find different readings because of test reliability rather than true variations. That can be overcomed making several test at each interval and compare the average value.

What an amazing thread..
I've been following along but never posted, but I have to say how exciting it is to see your facility and watch as you guys try different things and share most of your findings..
I'm going to start asking around in Montreal (Canada) if anybody has heard of you guys!
I suspect yes... I have a hunch (hope) we will see some of your amazing corals here, or in Totonto, at least, very soon.
Sorry if I missed this but what is the name of your company?
You tend not to respond to questions about where you ship to- which is fine..
I sure hope you will be shipping worldwide soon enough..
I wonder, though with all of the special tweaking you do to the water quality in your systems, how these corals will respond when they arrive in hobbyists' tanks.. But I guess the same can be asked of corals from any body of water..
The discussion about heavy metals is very interesting..
I'll be following along! :)

Luca this evening I replaced my FM zeolites and then I tested Kh in the tank, it was 8. Tomorrow evening I'll test Kh again……….sorry for my OT

Hi reefmutt I don't tend to respond to questions such as where we ship or who we are because im not sure if that breaks the rules of the forum and I don't want this thread removed, we have had several enquiries from Canada and are still working through some issues but hopefully you should see some soon, also the feed back we have been getting from people who have purchased our frags is that they are awesome grow well and keep stay well colored I have heard from 2 people that have said 1 or 2 of theyre frags havnt taken off as yet but overall the response has been great....

I had the opportunity in 1994 to be some days in Cairns. At that moment I was living in Argentina and travel all the way there. Beautiful place. After reading this thread I would like to ask a simple question.

How do you cover all those tanks during raining days ? You have the rainforest nearby, if I recall correctly and there has to be many raining days. What system do you have to cover the tanks fast ...... ????

It just picked my curiosity to know how you protect your tanks of rain water.

Amazing farm !!!!

Any comments to my question, if you can.

Cheers
Daniel

I think the question was addressed on page 6, the system is under cover of a steel structure with laserlight panels if the rain gets to much we have extra panels that we secure over the tubs directly......

bibarassa, finding a lower kh in the next days doesn't mean zeolith absorb carbonate...
It simply means alk lowered in your tank.
