if some of you have seen my build tread you will notice on page 2 i did foam on my cal flo overflow to hide it. BUT unlike many others i did not use epoxy to cover it. i used the beckett pond foam and its holding up very well! check it out. sorry i couldnt get a good fts put you can see the foam in the center of the tank.

great job. I didn't realize that the pond foam didn't need to be coated with epoxy. That would have made my project much easier since the epoxy part was the longest piece. At least I know for next time.
 
One tip I tried with my last build was to use 2 part reef epoxy putty in the really small spots where it was likely the the foam would expand too much. That worked nice.

I am going to start a small rock wall in my new tank in about a week. A question for you is would the foam be strong enough to support rock if you put foam on the bottom of the tank?
 
puting foam on the bottom of the tank is risky. you will have to silicone it down and put alot of rock ontop of it cuz that stuff float too well
