Here's mine, finished it yesterday. Start my tank build next week.

This looks really good. You just putting that in the middle of the tank as like a pillar or are you incorporating it into more rock?

I actually have a true centre overflow, the glass overflow is already built and in place, I built the foam wall just large enough to slip over top.

Here is my foam wall. I built the wall about a month ago and finally got it in the tank with water this past weekend. Let me know what you think.

Has Beckett changed their can? I went to home depot and they had "Waterfall Foam Sealant" by Beckett, but the can looks different from the one that everyone has used. I couldn't find this product on the Beckett website only the typical one. The can is green with a black cap.

WOW! that looks fantastic. Are you planning to put it around a center overflow?

It's actually around the center overflow in that picture. I built my tank on the weekend, just finishing up the top bracing, but I will post a completed picture when it's done. I have also found some tank safe epoxy and will be sanding it soon. I don't like how the black is showing up in a few spots.

Looks good, quite a bit different with water in the tank. I am still a couple weeks away from water myself. I hope mine turns out half as nice as some of the ones on this thead.

Im sure it's fine.

ok, so I built my wall this weekend :) It it for my 28G NC.

Supplies......

ry%3D400

After foam..... (black tetra waterfall foam)
ry%3D400

Cured, and trimmed. Then coated with Z-Poxy and covered with Sand......
ry%3D400

After drying with the excess shaken off......
ry%3D400

I am happy with it :)

I do have 2 questions though for the experts....

1. There are a couple of spots where you can see the foam (in cracks really). Should I bother hitting those spots and recoating, or not worry about it. I realize this is more for asthetics)

2.I cut most of the back foam off (which had crept through the grating while curing). Do I need to coat the back with epoxy to seal it?

Thanks!

you can put a second coat on if you like, but it isn't necessary. I personally wouldn't bother with coating the back.

Ok, I've decide to go with a foam+rock covering for the back wall and possibly the sides too on the 180 FOWLR that I am setting up. I was thinking it might be easiest to lay the tank down on its back and work on it directly. Through all this thread I did NOT see anybody who had done it like that so I was hoping to get some input on it. My plan is to silicone egg crate to the back and then attach the rocks and fill in with pond foam followed up with epoxy and sand. I figured that I can make sure the eggcrate is very secured to the back wall that way (using Momentive RTV 108). The wall will have a lot of rock attached to it and minimal foam.

Thoughts?

I am also considering a F/R wall for my 65. It has the slightly offset overflow and was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to deal with the 2-3" wide area to the left of the overflow and the fact it has rounded edges. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

jkopp36 There is no real order to how your suposed to do it. I did mine out of the tank and filled in the gaps in the tank once everything was where i wanted it. You can do it in the tank its just a little harder cause you have less room to work with and you have to move your tank around and lay it on its back. I only siliconed the top of my wall to the glass to hold it in place cause it floated and also if I wanted to sell the tank and the buyer didnt want the wall I could take it out.

strgazr27 If I was doing it on your tank I would build the wall on the back glass and bring it right up to the overflow and then i would just glue small rocks to the overflow and resin it and throw sand on it to make the color match. Those overflows come way to far out and if you build a wall on it the rocks would come to far out in my opinion.

Thank you! I'm kinda thinking now that with as much rock as I will be using that I do not need to worry as much about attaching it to the tank. I don't think it will take much to hold it in place. Really appreciate the input!
