The Foam/rock Projects Here Thread

I bought a couple of cans of Beckett Waterfall Foam Sealant from Home Depot to tackle a foam project in hopes that I could skip the epoxy step, but right on the can it says it needs to be painted??? I thought the idea was if you use this foam then no epoxy required vs Great Stuff which requires epoxy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it says if it's exposed to the sun that it must be painted.
FROM my experiance with becketts....if its under the water it will be fine...if it sticks out of the water it will discolor.

i found this out on my 150xt (was taken down and sold 2 weeks ago...and being replaced with a 40 breeder...yep pond foam in that one too :) ) 98% of my foam in the 150 was under water like all my other tanks i have done (4 others)...but the other 2% was above the water line just under the trim. that foam discolored and started to become brittle. Again NONE OF IT was covered with epoxy.

Yeah it sucked to take it down...miss it already.. but cost of running that tank and my shop was hurting our pockets...

Ill post pics of the 40breeder when I have water in it ;}

mine is new but i love it. it allows you to place coral where ever you want to. you can make nooks and crannies where ever you please and then place coral there down the rd. it also lets you get more rock in your tank for filtration and keeps it out of the "way" to keep a cleaner look in the tank

What's the consensus on this foam here:

It's black foam, branded by Tetra. It's marketed for waterfalls just like the Beckett material is.

Ok to use? Not ok to use?

I've been working at mine and I think I'm done. I put some crushed coral on to see how it would look, but I just don't feel like doing the whole wall.

im just starting to look at making a rock wall but my question is is this ok to add to a tank that is already established?
