Well he didn't make it. I don't know what happened to him.
I'm gonna do an autopsy tomorrow morning to see if anything looks abnormal

Ok, I have some noob questions:

What is the smallest size invert a wartskin will eat?
Is it possible that the wartskin will over eat in my tank? Will it eventually wipe out my zooplankton/pod population?

I'm not sure on what the minimum size would be, but your zooplankton/pod population should be 100% safe. Mine hasn't touched pods/snails/hermits.

Just got my painted angler on NYE

Yesterday he ate a PE Mysis but didn't want anymore after that. My pod population is not 100% safe, he does go after the big ones. He's seems obsessed with catching them in the sand and rocks.

very nice! I love the coloration.

billysanborn - I would immagine that ur fish ingested air at some point. I think this is an occasional problem with them

Not sure on the smallest specimen that you could find, but I think that Wartskin stay the smallest (usually under 3-3.5"). I don't know of a reliable place to pick them up other than a trusting LFS. I've never bought anything but drygoods online, but ordering through Liveaquaria or That Fish Place has always been spot on.

Vacaville - Can you post any pics of your new beauty?

I got him really hungry and then tried krill and silversides. Even then the first few times trying took abit to get him to eat. Once he ate a few he now eats them pretty easy.

Is a Hawaiian Yellow Leaf Scorpionfish considered part of the angler family?

I have had my pair of Leaf fish, 3 1/2" and 3 1/4", for three weeks.

They were fed live ghost shrimp where I purchased them from.

I am feeding them live ghost shrimp on the weekends and tickling their noses with pieces of frozen krill, silver sides, clam, etc.

Only eating the ghost shrimp to date?

I am eyeing an Orange Antennarius pictus at 2 1/8" eating live ghost shrimp although they get six inches maximum. The Leaf fish get 4" maximum.

Will the Orange Antennarius pictus eat my large pair of Clarkiis and Cinnamons, my smallest fish yellow tailed damsels or my hermit crabs?

Should I stay with the Leaf and wait for a Japanese Red Finned Waspfish which gets 3" maximum?

No, a leaf in not the same group as an angler.

yes.

Yes, they will pair up nice. A frog fish of any type will not pair up well with the leaf fish.

A really nice looking fish.

I like my two red rose bubble tip and four green bubble tip anemones along with their accompanying pairs of hosting Clarkii and Cinnamon clonws.

If they could get big enough not to be eaten by a 6" maximum Frogfish, I would start with a 2 1/8" Frogfish.

So i have been following this thread for a long time and i have an empty 33g and i really want a frogfish and i was wondering what a spiecies is generally is easier to care for and if there is anything i should know before purchasing one Thanks.
