Just an update. I have my tiny black frogfish eating off the rigid + flex + fishing line feeding implement regularly now.
At first he wouldn't go for thawed. Then I got him to swallow pieces of selcon-added silverside, but he would only spit them out right after. He finally accepted a fraction of a piece of krill on two different occasions. Tonight I got him to eat very small piece of silverside off of the stick. Relative to him both the tiny krill pieces and the tiny strips of silverside are substantial. All so far have been beaded and squished/sopped with a drop/dot of selcon.
I still have a 20gal long with saltwater white feeder shrimp from Liveaquaria, and a 5gal bucket of rodi water with a breeding population of fw guppies.
I was thinking of rotating the food types, for example 2 different thawed types to 1 live feeding. I was thinking that feedings via implement-only of all types would be best so he doesn't break his 'training'.
There is the opinion that some (or all) live feedings do well for your frogfishes health. I want to let the sw shrimp get alittle bigger before feeding those again. They are quite small at this stage. I also might try to breed them if possible, so I don't want to tear their population down too much yet.
However I have mixed feelings about the guppies. I don't want the frogfish to get some illness from them or something. FW fish seem prone to 'fuzz', though I haven't seen a sign of it in the guppies yet. Mollies seem more prone?
