The Id on the fish that Richard gives you?

Ok thts a fish.... can anyone get a better photo?

more in focus ?

I can't see any details of this guy to compare with.


the eyes look kinda large.

almost like a goby in some ways from this photo but with no detail this is just a wild guess...

also size? is that 1 inch? 1/2 or 3 inches long ???

also if it is a juvi form of a larger fish then many things will chnage as it grows, might be a type of toadfish that is still to young to reach full "toad-ness"

beter photo if possible.

That kind of look's like him.... All I get is a face on look as he peer's at me from inside a crack. He is seldom out and for the last week I haven't seen him at all. When he first went in the tank he disappeared for like 3 week's so long in fact I thought he had died and been eaten. Then one day he reappears.

Any time I don't see the blenny that Richard sent sent me for a couple days, I use 1 cube of Hikari frozen Mysis in an ounce of water and add several drops of Selcon and put a bit in the tank, and he darts out swimming in a frenzy to gobble them up.

I have a rough idea based on it's body shape and fins, but I don't want to guess til I know for sure.

I took the picture.....I got two of the little guys diving last week, they are pretty rare, I hardly ever see them on the reef.....and I do not know what he is.....in the big eye family most likely....but have not seen it in Pauls book either, so must be kinda rare!

how long are they ?

can someone take more photos, if you can not get good focus close then just take a good image from farther back and if I can get a copy of the photo I can zoom in to see more details.

I used to ID things like insects based on anatomy and tech guides like the roger tory ones.....

richard do you have a macro attachment for your camera ?
you can get some that are "universal" and they help with the close up focus -- like the photos I posted on my web of the pods.

I'd love to ID this guy.... my tank already has a max fish load so I can't add any -- if I had room I'd buy one and then figure it out

Well Richard maybe I need to dig in the tank find mine and take a shot of him. What are big eye's? Just fish? Kinda a boring fish as fish go for my tank we call him scooter...

hey seehag i got the other brown fish, not sure what it is but i will try to post a clear pic of it later so we can figure out what it is.

It looks like a conchfish maybe, Astrapogon stellatus.

hey kuda i think you just nailed it. my fish looks just like that, good thing i have an empty conch shell he can make himself at home in..i am so glad to know what he is. now i can figure out what he likes to eat. thanks!

Well bad new's, can't find mine anywhere now. He used to hang out under the rock's but I moved them all around this weekend and he was no where to be found. He is too big to have been in a rock, and the weird thing is I found no sign of him or bones or anything. He was sick with Ich I think maybe that was what got him. I was looking for him to post a picture for you guy's. At least we helped Tanga out....

mine had ich too but gave him a fresh water dip and now he seems to be doing ok. only problem is i havent been able to get him to eat yet, i have tried everything, they naturally eat small shrimp i have hatched out some brine shrimp but the seem to be too small to interest him, tried various frozen foods soaked in entice and garlic hoping will interest him, rotifers, artipods etc but he isnt going for any of it. i put him a conch shell in there with him and he is very at home in it atleast..i will try to post of pic of him tomorrow.

okay my little guy is happy as can be in his conch shell but makes it hard to get a good pic with my camera but i am trying..will post a pic as soon as i get a good one.
