Still using the Deltec, the new skimmer is not finished yet.

I tried to find an old picture to do a before and after comparison with the shots above, but just about all of the original pictures taken during the construction were taken from the other side of where the wall is now, so no shot of the floor space where the wall sits now from "before".. oh well. Once I finish hanging sheetrock on the back side and get the garage all cleaned up I will take a picture from the front garage door, but that "cleaned up" state is a ways off at this point as I am only really focusing on what it will take to bring all of the equipment online and in use (skimmer, calc reactor, etc).

OK, update time again

Not really much to report in the way of tank setup progress. The sumps, skimmer and calc reactor were brought online a couple of days ago and the tank has slowly cleared up. We are still having soem minor problems with micro bubbles, but that is related to how we had to temp setup the skimmer. I have some new pipe to relocate the output drain from the skimmer into a separate compartment within the sump. That should eliminate the few bubbles that are making their way into the main tank.

Here is a FTS :

The current stocking list (all moved from our old tanks into this new one) :

purple tang
sailfin tang
cleaner wrasse
ornate wrasse (aka christmas wrasse)
yellow wrasse
pair of oscellaris
orchid dottyback
engineer goby
green spot mandarin
cleaner shrimp
5 peppermint shrimp
2 squamosa clams
3 crocea clams
deresa clam

We have not added any new livestock since the main "migration" a couple of weeks ago.

For most of the corals we have we have no idea what they are (outside of a visual identification). They were bought off of the frag rack at Atlantis Aquarium (sponsor here on RC) back in November, all without any sort of ID (or even size/shape or discernable color)

Here is a shot of one of our favorite corals.. deep water species of sort. We lover the red polyps against the blue tinged dark purple base

InWall_168.jpg

Here is another fav, this one a granulosa thathas colored up nicely over the last couple of months and shown good growth (there is also a small lokani right below it that was salvaged from a sliver of encrusted flesh in our old tank last year.. we are very happy to see it recovered and growing again)

InWall_172.jpg

This one seems to be a deepwater.. it almost glows (kind of green and/or blue.. sort of depnds on what angle you look at it). It started out as a nub of a coralite and seems to be doing well, all things considered.

InWall_174.jpg

The purple/green frag in the middle of this pict is really alot more purple than the camera could accurately capture. It is growing nicely and we love it's growth pattern/shape :)

InWall_202.jpg

The one here has an interesting shape, sort of like a conical tree (I have seen it before, but cannot remmeber the coral name.) It is a sort of turqoise alabaster look to it and the polyps are sort of yellow/goldenrod

InWall_208.jpg

There is alsa a nice golden granulosa in the bottom right of the last picture in our last post.

The following couple of frags we got from Warren up in Elk Grove the end of last year.. they colored up quite nicely :). We really like the contrast betwen the polyps and the base

(bear in mind that they are 2 1/2'+ from the front of the glass)

Here is a shot of our blastos.. red/green, red/blue and red/red :)

InWall_184.jpg

And here is our porcillopora forst.. 4 different color morphs :) (they are at the back of the tank, so over 3 1/2' -- 42" -- from the front)

InWall_233.jpg

and our zoa garden

InWall_221.jpg

A rather large hydnophora that was our very first stony :)

InWall_242.jpg

The coral in the middle of this pict has potential, but still has yet to color up. The chalice to the right is the Aquascene chalice that gets traded around out here every so often :)

InWall_234.jpg

This one is green with light blue tips, but the picture didn't come out good (there is another coral, with similar coloration, but thinner branches, that I could not get a shot of.. after it grows some more I will try again).

InWall_188.jpg

and here is one taht has been coloring up nice, getting an interesting green hue to the base. It is already 3+ months in our tank, between the prop and current tank, but it still has a ways to go as far as reaching it's final coloration :)

InWall_190.jpg

Here are a couple of our clams

InWall_225.jpg

InWall_227.jpg

Here is our recovering idaho grape

InWall_193.jpg

Our monti capitata (aka rice coral). It lost it's gren base due to not enough light in it's current spot. We will likely move it before it is all said and done to get the green base back.. it really makes the purple polys stand out )

InWall_217.jpg

and here is a pale looke PAletta Baby Blue.. it is actually bluer than it looks.. another example of my poor photography skills.. it is also 3' back from the font of the glass.. which makes it challenging to accuratley capture

InWall_237.jpg

yup.. all about 3 - 5 months old.... but it is much nicer to see them in a more natural setting than in an egg crate rack in our prop tank :). After about a month in the new tank and they seem to be doing well.. although I had a minor temperature snafu about 3 days ago.. but the corals and fish seemed to have taken that in stride (thankfully :)).

we are getting there.. still a long ways to go on the setup and even further for the tank to mature properly :) Thanks for the kind words. :D

still waiting on the new skimmer to arrive to replace the 902 and quite a bit of plumbing to clean up and finish installing (not to mention the work sink), plus all of the wiring and controller components.

If we can get the ATO installed and online this weekend, I will be happy. I am just not sure where to permanently locate 35g Rubbermaid Brute that I use for an RO/DI reservoir. I may end up building a small fenced in compound just on the other side of the wall, in the back yard. That or switch to a smaller, wall mounted water container (which appeals to me more anyways). If I go that route I will want to rig up a timed solenoid that will divert the first 30 seconds or so worth of RO water down the drain before passing it to the DI unit. Once it gets rolling, the RO output is 1 - 2 ppm. A timing relay is all I really need. I think I actually have a spare solenoid already. But I am also not sure I want to spend too much time "fine tuning and tweaking" so much as just needing to get the meat of the pre-exisintg equiptment setup all installed and operational, and then comeback later to make the changes/tweaks.

Here is a picture of our dendro. It is not out that much in the middle of the day, so I had to wait to snap a picutre this evening :)

did someone mention a new skimmer arriving? :D

Picture170.jpg

ok.. now that is just flat out WRONG !!!!! :)

clekchau, so you were the one he had in front of ours that he needed to finish before focusing on our skimmer ? :P

Lookin sweet.. is that a kalk or fluidized bed reactor that you got also ?

Very very nice :).. does this mean we get to start our own fan club ? Like ER and Deltec skimmer owners have ? There are more than a few of us here on RC now (well, I will be an owner soon enough... :)).
