The Iwagumi Reef

Yano, how much of a roll does stability play for coral colour? Is colour not dependent on No3 and Po4 levels?

I would say that stability is more important to the health of the coral and then (without health difficult to have good color) the nutrient level is what determines the color.

nice pics yano, I am curious as to how you have your 2 mp40s placed. I also have a 36"x36" cube with vortechs, and I still find random flow difficult.

I have it in lagoom mode, but up position and low power (about 40-50%) are the key to avoid sand storm.

Hi Yano,
Super clean tank you have there.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the brand name of your Siporax. I bought some Sera Siporax and they looked like they are made out of ceramic or some similar material. What is your siporax made out of?
How many litter of Siporax are you using now?

Thanks

My media are Sera Siporax. They are made with glass fiber, highly porous material. Different thing is the ceramic beads that serve only as mechanical filter thicker, because its low porosity makes them unsuitable as a means of biological filtration.
Currently I have reduced the amount of siporax, I have about 6 liters.

Yano,

Your tank is one of my favorites. I have a couple of your pictures that I use as my wall paper on my ipad, I hope that is ok.

I do have a question for you. What do you feed you tiny fish and how do you ensure they all get fed the proper amounts? and how often?

Thanks, is a pleasure to know that the Iwagumi this in your wall paper.
About the microgobies feeding, I feed them with brine shrimp and flake slightly crushed with my fingers and my Vortechs distribute throughout the aquarium so that even the most timid fish have a chance eating.
I usually feed only once a day.

Looking awesome, Yano. So do you worry about the sand turning "sour" eventually, becoming too full of nutrients?

Thanks, galleon!
No, I think my problem is quite the opposite ... nutrient depletion is what has caused some imbalance in the aquarium and the appearance of cyano.

Beautiful tank! And the rockscape is absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing, yano. Hope to see more updates.

Sorry if I missed it, but I'd like to ask how much and how frequent do you perform water changes?

Thanks, yrema!
I do water changes about 5% total volumen (20 litres or 5 gallons) weekly with Reef Crystals or Microbe-Lift salt.

Thanks for the input, yano! :D I'm also thinking of the same regimen for my future upgrade. (5 gallon weekly WC for my future 100 gallon DT, 100 gallon sump. Reef Crystals salt as well)

Your tank has been a great inspiration. :)
