The Iwagumi Reef

Sorry guys but mother langueage is calling LOL ....

Yano mis felicitaciones desde Argentina. Has logrado algo increible.

Hi Yano! I love your tank and all Iwagumi's work.
Im working on a nano (31 galons display + 20 galons sump) and want to make something like you have done and i hope it would be as half as nice as yours!

Any recomendation? =)

Precisamente mi intencion ha sido la de incrementar la carga organica para corregir la tendencia del sistema al desequilibrio no por exceso sino por agotamiento de nutrientes...en los proximos meses veremos si he acertado.

fantastic tank, one of mine favourites!!!
what problems you've encountered/noted with siporax?
which improvements have you found replacing them with live rocks?

The main advantage of siporax is much more surface by bacterial growth in little volume, but my system don`t need this, (it was more clean with little siporax), so that I prefer live rock.

i have a few questions if you don't mind…
1) how do you like the Tunze skimmer? (how would you compare it to the BK?) and would you change it now (if you think there is something else you like) or keep it?
2) how do you like the Tunze return pump? and is it the constant speed one, or the controllable one?

3) did i miss out on when and why you changed out the media and put live rock in the sump?

Do you ever clean the bottom of the sump where rocks?

By the way, this is one VERY tidy sump! Looks much cleaner than my display! :D

This tank is looking awesome! I think it's going to look exceptional as everything grows out. I can't wait to see those stags branching all over :)

Incredible aquarium, yano.

A little bird told me that this skimmer is not already in the sump. Can you show us the latest news?:eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1:

Regards!!!

Yeahhh, you have good information, jeje.
I recently changed my TUNZE by a more powerful skimmer. :D
This is the current state of the tank just recently removed the Tunze 9410:

Very cool! 4 years seems like quite an accomplishment, from what I have read they seem to perish within a year in home aquariums. Too bad someone doesn't do some serious research on these guys to try and definitively find their husbandry requirements. I always see mine at the water surface with one or two arms sweeping across the surface, perhaps whatever he eats is in the surface film I have.

Yes, I´ve see this in mines too.

Yano why are you using 110v pump version ? Being from Germany why didn´t you buy 220v version ? Do you run it with a 110/220v converter ?
